But CSS is much more indicative for current level than Valenciana. To be fair, the MTF at Volta a la Comunidad Valenciana is more similar to this than CSS.

No offence intended but why all the love for Meintjes? He's been a shameless wheel sucker whose most memorable moment was hopping off his bike and running with it up a steep incline in the TDF. I guess fair play for fulfilling a dream by winning a GT stage but meh...
Maybe because a CSS where half the field is completely tired from the Tour and the other half is in Vuelta prep is slightly different from the Vuelta?
You can find like 1 datapoint to predict this and 10 to predict that it doesn't happen so it's fairly normal that some people are very surprised.
Ha! Pretty funny remembering that QS were trying to sell us that line prior to the start—but they knew what his numbers were. After the TT, Remco will decide whether he will go for GC or not.
Remco in this form would've easily won this year's Tour de France.
They should monitor him closely, day by day. Normally, it would have been smart to leave the race (DNS) after stage 14, considering his age - now they probably want him to go all the way to Madrid.
If they supported him. Froome 2013 with his team would have been a good shot too. A long TTT would have been great to see vs the three teams.Absolutely nobody would have beaten that Jumbo team this year. Maybe Contador with 09 Astana team.
Vinegregaard and Pogacar won against the best of the best in top form
Right fair point! If they supported him. Froome 2013 with his team would have been a good shot too. A long TTT would have been great to see vs the three teams.
Lol...nice trolling.Remco in this form would've easily won this year's Tour de France.
Sander Kleikers knew very well DSM *** up once again, so he kept asking. But Thymen would never confess of course.Haha that Arensman interview "we decided together, we decided together, we decided together" but can't give an explanation why.
Oh Jesus wept
I try to like the kid cos he is a top talent but i come on here and I read this stuff
He is doing well against an out of shape and tired peloton and now he could have won the Tour ? pluuuuueeeesssssssseeeeeee
Vinegregaard and Pogacar won against the best of the best in top form
A combination of Jay Vine and Jonas Gregaard, I take it?
Like Thomas, Gaudu and Quintana.
That interview was one of the best I have seen. Loved the interviewer, and loved Arensman's answer, you could tell that he absolutely hated dropping, but obviously, if he said that, DSM would probably have thrown him for the wolves.Sander Kleikers knew very well DSM *** up once again, so he kept asking. Leclercq got it immediately.![]()
well each other actually
But yeah Thomas had his best numbers ever and he is a Tour champion
But there was Vlasov and A. Yates and others as well
The point is riders were in peak form for the tour , they are not at the Vuelta except Evenepol so can we not have the ludicrous statements about what he would have won when he wasn't there and has proven nothing yet as he still hasnt won this Vuelta
Arensman initially left DSM on good terms. Looks like those clowns are eager to change that! That interview was one of the best I have seen. Lol, leaving the race? The guy is a phenomenon and is likely to ride into top-5 in Madrid, as a spaniard, in Vuelta a Espana. If people told me to leave a race like that I'd quit immediately and find another team, because god knows the whole peloton wants to get their hands on riders like Ayuso. Movistar would be willing to terminate half of their team's contracts in order to get Ayuso on the books, christ!Ayuso is incredible… He‘s nine years or so away from peak performance age for a GT GC rider (which is 28-32).

He‘s dropping teammate Almeida, which is incredible. Well, he‘s dropping Mas and Roglic also. He seems to be on track for a final podium in Madrid, in fact. Crazy. I hope that is good for his general development.
Pogacar finished his first GT, Vuelta, as third, and won the Tour the year after.
Ayuso is really impressive. Curious to see how much he still will improve. Maybe he will be the modern Contador.
Please stop it. No more of this rhetoric. So what is next Alpe D'huez in 15 minutes. Peak performance has too many variables to be able to know exactly when someone is at peak. We know he is very good but to say that he is away from peak 9-10 years????? please!!!!!!Ayuso is incredible… He‘s nine years or so away from peak performance age for a GT GC rider (which is 28-32).
