Again, if people used their eyes and not closed them to only see results (I know that you use your eyes to read results), it really is not that surprising.
Ayuso is incredible… He‘s nine years or so away from peak performance age for a GT GC rider (which is 28-32).
They should monitor him closely, day by day. Normally, it would have been smart to leave the race (DNS) after stage 14, considering his age - now they probably want him to go all the way to Madrid.
He‘s dropping teammate Almeida, which is incredible. Well, he‘s dropping Mas and Roglic also. He seems to be on track for a final podium in Madrid, in fact. Crazy. I hope that is good for his general development.
Pogacar finished his first GT, Vuelta, as third, and won the Tour the year after.

The field is so poor Ayuso is basically a good TT away from competing for a GC podium and given young riders development can go stratospheric I think you just keep him going if he's feeling good.

If they supported him. Froome 2013 with his team would have been a good shot too. A long TTT would have been great to see vs the three teams.

Mas was second in the vuelta, 6th in the tour of 2021, 5th and 5th in the tour vuelta 2020, The guy is in absolute form and loses 44seconds on Remco on a 15minute effort climb..

The point is riders were in peak form for the tour , they are not at the Vuelta except Evenepol so can we not have the ludicrous statements about what he would have won when he wasn't there and has proven nothing yet as he still hasnt won this Vuelta

And how would you know that? Apart from just having the need to belittle Remco?
I'm not claiming he could easily have won the Tour but just blindly denying the suggestion that he could have contended doesn't seem particularly logical to me.

Lol, leaving the race? The guy is a phenomenon and is likely to ride into top-5 in Madrid, as a spaniard, in Vuelta a Espana. If people told me to leave a race like that I'd quit immediately and find another team, because god knows the whole peloton wants to get their hands on riders like Ayuso. Movistar would be willing to terminate half of their team's contracts in order to get Ayuso on the books, christ!

Please stop it. No more of this rhetoric. So what is next Alpe D'huez in 15 minutes. Peak performance has too many variables to be able to know exactly when someone is at peak. We know he is very good but to say that he is away from peak 9-10 years????? please!!!!!!
