He was mainly happy to be there with the guys, who he was watching from home a couple years ago. That he loves those stages with a lot of climbing. He felt/knew he couldn't follow the more explosive attacks, because he isn't good at that.
I think a strong domestique could have brought Vingegaard back. of course Kuss or Roglic would have won the stage, but there could be hope for someone other then a bee for the podium
I think he tried. Seemed a little disappointed to end up third in GC. If he attacks to win it will look bad.

Kuss can win the Vuelta, but Vingegaard was stronger today.

Anybody at the Vuelta. Guillén is an absolute pushover when it comes to enforcing time limits.
Unless you actually got hurt and rode the whole stage on your own. Then he's draconian.
