Rodríguez' agent insisted on a clause that would enable him to break a contract pre-inception if he was offered more money, and after Brailsford got back in charge of Ineos he hit the roof about the exodus of quality riders and counter-offered, so Movistar have to come back with more money still if they want to make that signing, and Telefonica are in the middle of a protracted issue in Spain regarding potential Saudi investment, so whether they get the funds for that hangs in the balance and probably doesn't get settled in time for next season. It's still uncertain but it is vastly more likely he re-ups with Ineos. Movistar are now pursuing Bernal supposedly, but I don't know if that is actually realistic stuff or pie in the sky.What's the story on Carlos Rodriguez?
