I have mixed feelings about this trend. One thing I like about road racing is the real-world aspect of it. So I like places that people would - or did - ride electively.
Me too! You could construct thousands of steep climbs in Europe if you started to pave gravel roads. I'm basically against Mickey Mouse routes, but it's not like I wouldn't watch races taking place under those conditions.

Gall's shape seems to be going downhill much faster than he has ever done on a bike. Armirail getting into the top 6 yesterday could also mean they won't sacrifice everything for him if he gets dropped early on the climbs, although Armirail isn't exactly that reliable either.

Pedersen will probably attack before Mozqueta.

I wouldn't read too much into it yet. Gall is never really comfortable with a fast start, and today it was always going to come back together anyway.

Of course, there is a chance that he just got sick since then, but he still looked very good to me in Bilbao.
