In the Accent-Willems Verendas article, the picture caption says "Willems Verandas leads the break of the day" or some such caption. The picture is of Topsport Vlaanderen.

Are pictures still inevitably attached to their original caption, no matter where they're used? Because that's a silly system.

I haven't read the whole thread, but... here's something I find slightly annoying... which would take some work to fix, but...

Any time there's a reference to a rider and you don't have a picture directly related to the article or the event or the race, inevitably, a picture is chosen from another time, place or race...

For example, todays'article on Vino (http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/vinokourov-set-for-lead-role-at-tour-de-langkawi) Vino appears in a Dauphine photo.

I'd just like a caption any time that happens saying something to the effect that the photo was from Stage X of the 20XX Dauphine. Something that if you wanted to see more photos from that day or read the story from that particular day, you could chase it down, because you knew where the photo came from.

As it stands the caption for the article photo reads "Vinokourov is set to ride in Malaysia in February". I just wish you could also say something like (Original photo from Stage X of the 20XX Criterium du Dauphine). It just would make me happy! :)

Article Sources

I may have the wrong thread here, but just to figure this out...

Today there was an article called "Petacchi focused on Tour de France green jersey in 2012". I've always wondered where the information in such articles come from.

I don't see any reference to where the info came from... Did CN do an interview with Petacchi? Did another website publish it first? Was it an interview that happened on TV? Radio? Another media? I'd just like to know and since I don't see the information attributed to any source, I wonder where it came from. Is it common and acceptable not to quote sources? Just wondering and just curious.

Perhaps you didn't read the story as well as you might have? The third paragraph of that story is:

We have the rider who finished second in the Giro in 2011 and so the team should be all for him,” Petacchi told Gazzetta dello Sport. “If I skip the Giro, I can do the Tour of Belgium. Then I will do Suisse in order to get to the Tour in peak condition, the kind I normally had in Italy. The aim is to win the green jersey again.” (bold added)

It also links directly to the Gazzetta story.

Oops... I didn't read it through... Guess I expected to see it attributed at the end of the article or something... sorry...

Actually, I'm posting this mostly because I think this story is the strangest thing in the world to find on the CN home page. :p

It seems the inmates really are running the asylum!

and if you added my previous id of dimspace, to teamskyfans I would be second
and if tff and brodeal hadnt served multiple suspensions they would be third and fourth. ;)

quantity in no way is a sign of quality though

Ok, I have to admit I skip through an article without reading every word :)

On this article (http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/cancellaras-2012-preparation-will-be-the-same) It says "Cancellara told Cyclingnews. “Last year, the only thing missing was a bit of luck, but it’s just that luck is what counts.”"

I'm being picky here, but... I'd love to know, for example, when the interview happened, who got the interview done, if it was in person, over the phone, did you call him at home, did you see him at an event?... :) Just curious! I apologize for being so picky! Just curious. You guys do have a great job!

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/amstel-gold-race-wildcards-announced

Unlike in 2011, there is no wildcard birth for teams from outside the Benelux. While this year’s invitees were also all present at last season’s Amstel Gold Race, the organisers assigned six wildcards. Cofidis and Farnese Vini-Selle Italia are thus the teams to miss out on this occasion. The 18 WorldTour teams are automatically invited to the race.

There will be 6 wildcards again this year, the final two just haven't been handed out yet...
