And the team is not invited to US Pro Challenge.

Horner looking like a liability for the team in terms of invites.

The guy is on the UCI's version of the "no fly list." Ouch.

I was looking forward to a grand tour winner and top-20 TdF winner ride like a top-20 TdF winner.

Instead, http://www.usacycling.org/results/index.php?year=2015&id=29 9th on GC at a national level race.

That Chris Horner is cleans!

Some one on another site said this about Horner

"Horner isn't a draw because no one likes him. I've yet to meet a single current or former pro that has ever had a nice thing to say about him especially when it comes to doping. Combined with the fact that he takes so much of a salary that no Airgas riders get paid anymore, well, icing on the cake"

That Horner's team is not invited to races is complete and utter BS.

Ban him, or let his team race races where a Vuelta winner can probably perform at the pointy end.

The hypocrisy is revoltment.

I've tried hard to support Horner thru the years as i always appreciated his attitude. Immediately after Brasstown Bald in the Tour of Georgia he was the only top contender taking time for fans. I had to help him stand up after my son asked for his picture before I could stop him. Horner squatted down to be at my 4 year old's height level to talk to him and pose for the picture. Cipollini, a huge draw that year, was unacceptable after being pushed by roadside fans up the entire climb. He should have paid my wife for her work on the steepest part of the climb. Dude wasn't even pedalling and she's feisty but small girl.

Thru years of watching incredible feats later dissolved as doped fueled I've settled to watching pro races knowing that most were cheating and seeking only rides that were remotely believable. Horner broke that protocol in his Vuelta a Espana.

His team is weaker than many cat 1/2 club teams.

Will Horner really been paid a quarter of a million dollars to just rider the Tour of Utah? Really? Has he ridden anything else this year? Will he race again this year?

Horner went to Europe, performed daylight robbery, and got away with it. Of course he is not popular with other U.S. pros - he did what they can only dream of, and seemingly on his own. Nobody likes a winner.

"Nobody likes a winner"?

Yeah tell that to hordes of Froome/Wiggins/Sky fans!!

Nobody likes an obvious doper, is more correct.

Horner seems a nice guy, but the *** dopes his tits off.

Re:

When was the last time someone regardless of nationality won a GT clean?

One first must have come to terms with that cycling aficionados have been fooled since the first moment they first started to watch and once that hard pill is swallowed the BS still alive and kicking are much easier to figure out.

Oh how could i forget? The guys so clean that they are open with their lies on supposed clean numbers

dwyatt: I wouldnt have high hopes. It was even as far back as the 18th century (when the high stakes of today was far, far less) pretty normal riders would die before their 30'ies. Back then they used strychnine and ***. Amphethamine was widespread as early as during second world war.

Oh dear I log in today and read "nice guy" Chris Horner is still making waves. The freak show goes on. Yes they might all be doping but a competitive 44 year old pro still beating his chest removes any cloak of plausibility from Pro Cycling in the eyes of non cycling public and journalists. Please retire Chris to save us all from further embarrassment defending this sport against non cycling fans.

Unfortunately I have come to the conclusion Chris is motivated by greed and is milking the sport for everything he can get before retirement. When you are under 35 its plausible. When you are 44 it's certainly not. Does anyone have published papers about athletes of Horner's age performing at world class level? In past in this forum some suggested Horner was just a statistical outlier. I don't buy it.

I developed big doubts about this guy in 2009 when he made is infamous "I am the 2nd best climber in the world" boast - kudos to the OP for finally putting the spotlight on Horner. That he subsequently won the 2013 Vuelta - at near 42 - on one of the toughest MTFs in Europe and today is still around and beating his chest albeit just the Tour of Utah makes it far worse. Just Go Away.
