I just want to see an on-form Vingo vs an on-form Remco in the ITT. Overall winner could come from that result.
Jonas being at La Vuelta will certainly have irritated those involved in building the cash value of the "littlesb@stards" brand. He is without a doubt a very very talented rider, but it is getting a bit obvious, even to him, as to what is going on maybe a management change on the near horizon?

The ITT is completely flat. So I expect Evenepoel to comfortably beat everyone there.
The Tourmalet & the Angliru will be the stages for Vingegaard, especially if he can fly up the Tourmalet as fast as he did in the TdF.

Evenepoel is going to be routinely isolated against 3-4 Jumbots and also multiple UAE and Ineos riders. Recipe for disaster.

What was Quick Step thinking with that line up, like do they have any hope for Remco in the Vuelta at all?
It's not a great team but it's what could be expected I guess?
It was already know that Van Wilder wouldn't do two GT's this season and that Masnada is not yet fit enough.
Cattaneo, Serry and Vervaeke are usually solid for medium mountain stuff. Pedersen maybe is a bit of a surprise but I guess he's going to be Remco's bodyguard on the flat and for positioning.
In the high mountains it all depends if Hirt can find his best form again and if Knox can be reborn.
I'm not sure what to expect from Bagioli though. I would probably have taken Vansevenant instead if he's in good form.

Who are they supposed to select instead? Sure we would all like to see Masnada as a lieutenant for remco but he is not quite able to reach his top form in time for la vuelta after his health problems, he's still at a training camp.
Maybe they could put van Welder but he's 23 year old guy who already did a full Giro and is quite overrated. Vansevenent and schmid good stage hunters but not sure they can be helpful to remco in big stages. Again both young puncheurs rather than mountains support.
It's basically the best team they can give him with the squad. And they promised merlier to do la vuelta and changed that last month to give full support to remco.
Hirt on his best form can be there with the best, Cattaneo is really versatile and in the form of his life, knox has finished in the top 15 of 2 grand tours, pederson is a top rouleur, vervacke is a great friend of remco and serry is a roud captain.
For sure it's not as strong as jumbo or uae super teams but I honestly don't understand what people were expecting .
Last year remco won with Alaphilippe and serry dnf before stage 11, and devenyns and an ill masnada for part of his support. In the mountains he had van Welder, vervacke and cavagna.

More proof the mergers done and dusted, G, Arensman, Bernal etc will be looking after Remco - can’t beat a 16 man team!

My point wasn't that QS could have fielded a much better squad. My point is that QS have almost embarrassingly bad mountain domestiques compared to their competition, be it Jumbo, UAE or Ineos. Going for Merlier rather than good climbers this past winter remains laughable, especially given that they've barely fielded Merlier in big races.

Vote for G, bit rich I admit, just my dream scenario for him to take second GT before climbing out of the shark pool.
I kinda came to a conclusion that he might be going for it for reals, the way he downplayed it in latest podcast. Was he sandbagging early in the Worlds tt, for the Vuelta? Trying to look weak. He sure knows how difficult it is these days, if you go out and say "I'm the one".
There is a probability that he make take the Ineos train to victory since they know only the train strategy.
Ah, OK, good point - I forgot about him…And no Froome either
Would be good if Froome was there… Would love to see him climbing against the other, younger, top men. So I hope we‘ll see Froome next year, doing two GTs… Giro and Tour, or Tour and Vuelta, 2024.
Just not the same, when the grand master isn‘t there…

Everybody being at their best, with main focus on La Vuelta, prediction would be alot easier.
However, La Vuelta is not Le Tour, pre start, going deep into season, there are more unknown unknowns than known unknowns and only few known knowns.
Of which the latter Roglic has just demonstrated he is pretty much back in shape.
If route is raced hard from the gun with more events of split peleton and stressful first week, it will IMO without a question hurt on Vingegaard, destroying his build to peak as race going on into 3rd week.
Normally I'll rule out Remco for La Vuelta, but question is whether he's learned quickly of his little too confident moves in the mountains. I'm not so sure, but hope for it, becoming a real GC contender.
Looking very much forward to Ayuso and Almeida.
And ofcourse G diesel power will deliver without crashes or other misfortunes.
And just hope Mas is not a mashed potato entering this edition, but ght now I think it's mostly my hope on his behalf that makes him part of the favorite field, I really hope he's right up there.
But I really can't tell.

Yeah, back in the days, when Pantani was riding, you more often saw riders attacking right after the beginning of the final ascent.
Nowadays, they only attack after the last remaining domestique finished his turn at the front.

Evenepoels team is so terrible I want Jumbo to actually keep Kelderman and Kuss up there to to put them in fuga bidones.
