Without any crashes or illnesses Quintana will win.

If Quintana is however somehow impeded, things will become very interesting. Winner could be anyone from Nibali, Kruijswijk, Landa, Pinot to even the surprise Thomas, Yates or Mollema (very underrated here after running in 2nd for most of the tour up until crash last year)

Quintana really SHOULD win.
If you look at who he will come up against in the Tour de France - the likes of Froome, Chaves, Contador & Richie Porte - none of those guys are in the Giro. If he cant beat the likes of Kruijswijk, Nibali, Landa & Yates who are a fair way behind his opposition in the Tour then what hope does he have in the tour??!!
Really Quintana should be able to put significant time gaps on his rivals in the climbs, and to me, barring accident or illness Quintana should be too strong in the final week. I dont think Nibaili will be able to pull something out of the bag like he did last year when Kruijswijk crashed - maybe Kruijswijk will be Quintana's biggest rival but really doubt he can beat him.

I know Quintana should be the favourite but I feel it's little disrespectful (or maybe not, it's just voting on a forum lol) that Nibali's got only 7 votes so far to Quintana's 34. I think it will be closer than people think. Anyway, it's pretty crazy when you look at all the GC contenders. There are almost 20 names who could do a top5 this year. I can't remember the last time that happened. The 100th Giro will be crazy, hopefully.

I'd really like Nibbles to win Centenario but simply can't root for that shady Bahrain team. My other preference would be Aru but since he isn't starting I guess... meh. Nairo will win probably but jeeeez, I hate that guy's "racing" so much.
For the lulz, I'd like Tom to put big chunk of time on everybody during those TTs and then just hang on them tactically for their despair :)
PS; Hope Stelvio will not be cancelled due to bad weather (especially since it's 100th Giro) via (imho highly overkill) EWP.

Who will podium is a more interesting question. Seems to be a very long list of a/ GC pretenders (Dumoulin, Thomas, Jungels, Zakarin, even Dennis) + b/ GC quality needing serious redemption (Pinot, Van Garderen, Kruijswijk, Landa).

Assuming Nibali and Quintana are 1 & 2, it's pretty bloody hard to pick a number 3.

Maybe Van Garderen. I'm going for the two Dutchies though.

Have Landa and Thomas said anything about who's supposed to be the leader? Usually Sky has one leader, and Landa seems more likely to me.

Landa has said that they are equal, so the usual one-captain-strategy is out, which is a good idea in this case as both are in quite untested territory.

I really hope that Steven Kruijswijk, Thibaut Pinot, Tom Dumoulin, Geraint Thomas and Tanel Kangert and these teams could make great race for us. If they decide to attack more - like Spanish - than be defencive, all is possible.

Kruijswijk did so well except snowride, that I don't see any barriers for him to win the whole bucket. Pinot is facing a chance of a lifetime, let's hope he is mentally strong now. TVG....where's Porte, they do huge mistake with this as TVG's slight chances are on Tour and Porte is capable for Giro, it's same dreaming as Gibo Simoni did with Tour, too small athlete for a race like that and TVG is too diesel for anything these days.

Kangert is a really real black horse, good climber, lasts 3 week and is strong tt'er. Dream on...

If Nibali is not declining and has hit the best possible shape just in time, he is the only one capable of beating Nairo, which I hope will happen. I think he will play defensive until the last week.
From his 2 interviews that I saw of Nibali it looks like he wants to play more conservative. He is accepting the fact that he is not the strongest and he is not that strong anymore. But watch him because he said that any stage could be a trap. Now Quintana is no Froome when it comes to traps but you never know.

I think NIBALI, KRUIJSWIJK and LANDA are the only ones that have the potential of beating Quintana not at 100%. I don't believe that Landa will return to his old days of 2015. That leaves only the other 2 as the other choices. Kruijswijk is in a similar situation to Quintana when it comes to form. He will get stronger as the race progresses. Nibali is very strategic and need to be watched very closely in every stage.

Not sure who will win but Quintana, Nibali and Kruijswijk for the podium.

SK said in a interview that in 2016 giro he was only 5 watts better than 2015 giro. The field was really bad last year, contador or landa would have demolish all of them with 2015 shape

Only 5 watts better than his first week in 2015 or his third week in 2015?
Because in the third week he was better than Contador and very close to Landa.
5 watts better on all 3 weeks... where was he better than contador besides finestre?

I'm backing Adam Yates!

He's improved hugely each of the last few years as a professional and if he improves again I believe he can do it.

He's a brit and has shown that the cold wet weather suits him.
He was almost as good as Quintana at last years tour (which was their main objective of the season).
His Orica team is weak but I seem him taking the race in the final week when it's mano a mano.

I think he has a much better chance than Pinot, Thomas or Landa.
Adam has shown that he always exceeds expectation.
Not many expect him to win the race!

Yates was almost as good as Quintana at the Tour but Quintana wasn't as good as he is used to be at all. If the colombian guy is at the same level in this Giro than in the last Vuelta, Yates will be dropped in a lot of stages (plus the fact that he can't gain time on Quintana with TTs unlike guys like Nibali, SK, Pinot, etc...). If he make the top 5 it will be a very good result for Adam.
