You always give me a good laugh with your predictions. The only time that I have been shocked with your predictions was when you picked Horner, a 42 years old guy, to destroy the field in Spain. LOL. Not even in my wildest dreams I had that in my forecast.

So I give you the benefit of the doubt with Basso. If he wins it then I have to say that you must have some control over these riders or that you are the new Nostradamus!!!:)

BMC squad announced

Brent Bookwalter (USA), Yannick Eijssen (BEL), Cadel Evans (AUS), Ben Hermans (BEL), Steve Morabito (SUI), Daniel Oss (ITA), Manuel Quinziato (ITA), Samuel Sánchez (ESP), Danilo Wyss (SUI).

Good team imo and should do well in the TTT, the flat stages and be sufficient in the mountains.

Stetina is injured isn't he ? Would have liked to see him in there. Eijssen was expected to do big things when he first turned pro. Not a bad team. Bookwalter and Quinziato are good value and are quality domestiques. Hopefully Sanchez and Morabito can do pretty good in the mountains. But as usual it's all about how Cadel is towards the end of the stage. Pretty good team for the TTT. Velits must be doing the Tour.

Please, please, please, let this team pull off one Schleck Galibier, Contador Fuente De moment for Sanchez or Evans to at least put them on the podium. If they use this team just to keep up there is every chance, they'll struggle to go top 5.

Stetina is going to the tour in support for Tjay.

Stetina will be leader at TOC as well :p

Sanchez, Morabito and Eijssen are good enough for Evans in the mountains- Sanchez could be the strongest domestique there :). Hermans should also be good for the hilly stages.

Pretty good team, lot of experience... the kind of decent yet unexciting team that BMC seem to be sending everywhere. They have been great at their last minute pickups though: Sanchez and Hermans are great additions to any GT squad.

Who is gonna win the points jersey? The system has changed so it has to be a sprinter who gets it. Kittel is going home before the mountains, Matthews wants do the Tour, Bouhanni is also still hoping for a Tour selection I guess so I think they will abandon as well. That leaves Swift, EBH, Nizzolo, Viviani, Ferrari and Farrar? Who's gonna win it?

My vote for Purito. I think he knows he is probably in his latest season for winning a big one and this way he is racing Giro & Vuelta where has more chances than in Le Tour.

A bit of a crapshoot.

Swift/EBH on a team with limited GC ambitions could take it, but we are in Italy so Viviani may be a better bet, but hes very inconsistent imo.

Also should Matthew lead the points competition after 8 stages, will he then leave? I doubt it.

If Farrar can get closer to old form (big if), he would be a favorite imo.

Assuming everyone stays till the end:
*****Kittel
****Viviani, Bouhanni
***Mezgec, Matthews
**Swift
*Nizzolo, Farrar, EBH, Ferrari, Petacchi

I assume if a rider withdraws at any stage but has accumulated enough points to beat everyone else at the end of the Giro, that they don't win the jersey?

The rider that withdraws can't win it obviously.

I expect Quintana and Rodriguez to be very close. Hope for the winner will be decided on the slopes of Zoncolan!:)

I agree. Leads me to think that BMC is focusing more on the gc at the Giro than at the Tour. Who will be TVG's lieutenant? Seems most the climbing talent will be at the Giro.

Jens also picked Froome to win PdBF Stage (100-1 thank you), not sure if he called Cobo pre-Vuelta.
