Can't blame him. He probably only ever rode with Purito once in 2004.

Vuelta 2011 says hello. Wiggins doesn't even know the name of the #1 of the World Tour.

Isn't Purito the guy that toppled him out of the #1 spot on WT points last year? And he claims not to know who he is????:confused: :eek:

You haven't noticed he's always deliberately vague about things he knows perfectly well as part of his social interaction coping mechanism?

Now you say it, it kinda makes sense:eek:

Yeah I don't know why you guys keep falling for this...who were having a fit last year when he pretended he couldn't remember Siutsou/Sivtsov's name during a press conference? That's the way he is, get used to it.

Perhaps he is just playing with J-Rods head like when
he nibbled the Shark last year. Marginal gains.

Obvious wind up. It's super-effective.

Wind up of who? The 2 people slighted in the article are the 2 people in the peloton least likely to hear about it. Nor are either of them targetting the giro so theres no motive to wind them up in the first place.

Yeh, needs to do it to Froome.

I'd have to see the full interview, but it sounds like the sort of thing he woudl say after some stupid questions from journalists.

"Can you win? Who else stands a chance?"
"well, there's some Spanish guy from Katusha..."

Apparently not. Looking at his schedule the only race where he has a concrete chance of winning is the giro. So quite a departure from last year

He's heeding the advice of his former friend to ''not burn too many matches'' before his Giro-Tour attempt.

Don't want to jump the gun, but I don't think Wiggins will do much this year. Usually when things don't seem quite right with him, they aren't. He has a bit of a history of boom and bust.

You might be right. It's hard to tell from The Oman highlights if Wiggins is only there to do a Stannard for Froome, and get a few miles in his legs.

Could be the opposite of the last couple of seasons by Sky? i.e. Froome wins nearly everything he targets, and Wiggo pops up out of nowhere in a couple of GTs?

That seems like the most likely scenario for this season.

If he shows nothing at Catalunya then it's time to start speculating. However given that he's now off to Tenerife for a couple of weeks I'm sure he'll quickly find his form.

I won't be making a judgement until we see him TT.

I'd agree that that's the time to really start to worry, if he's losing 2 minutes to Cancellara or Martin or the like. But still, it is concerning that all the other big GC riders are up there challenging and he's nowhere. As I understand it he's only got Catalunya and Trentino stage races before the Giro, and last year neither of those had an ITT. Could it be that he doesn't actually do an ITT until the Giro?
