It has gotten to some people head it seems, this topic.

On the case of Vermeersch.... it would be unforgivable of him to ride for Pog here. He is Belgian and they have Remco in the team, that is his leader.

I dont know why people think this is a thing.
There are zero scenarios in this race where Vermeersch could even ride for Pog (and against Remco).
He is just there pacing the peloton for 100K before being dropped on Mount Kigali and going to the box after crossing the finish line on the parcours. This discussion is irrelevant.

Unless Pogacar has a flat and Vermeersch drops back to help chase back the peloton :)

You read things that simply aren't there. I only argued that some riders simply have no better option to even think about deflecting from those tactics (like Vermeersch), so in those cases, discussing options that aren't there, isn't relevant.
Gianetti himself said they could do the same as last year with Sivakov. Specifically saying UAE riders could ride for Pogacar so a weak Slovenia doesn’t matter.

If I was the NC those riders would never be invited again.
