Lots of Rabo, more surprised there was no place for Ventoso. Freire is the leader on paper, but Rojas should be their man. Don't know whether Herrada is ready for the Big Time TT yet. Maybe he's been preparing for this TT all year, but it would've been safer to name Lulu instead.

-Bauke Mollema
-Niki Terpstra
-Lars Boom
-Johnny Hoogerland

Three climbers is pushing it, but I guess they have a limited choice anyway. At least Poels can make a dumb attack somewhere late.

Exactly the only time to think Freire does not have a change at he Worlds is well he is retired

During Tour of Denmark, Gerrans and Bennati fought for bonus seconds on Geels Bakke (the final 'hill'). Gerrans won in front of Bennati and Appollonio.

Don't underestimate guys like Freire, Reynes or Rojas on this course. Spain has a good team and will race the course hard to make it selective.

Still three open slots. Ligthart could very well get one of those. Would be interesting enough parcours for him. Nothing too long or steep in the climbing department, and he has a reasonably fast finish.

I just think the length will do him in, but that's no reason not to let him try.

Yeah but I'd have assumed he'd be one of the early, obvious picks.

Yeah... The Netherlands really has noone who can do this type of stuff. Bos cant climb or handle distance, and its way too soon in the career for Ligthart. Hope we can get into some attacks and see. Wasn't at all positive going into Geelong either, but Moerenhout and Terpstra did at least give a decent showing

Boom might be a interesting wildcard, the narrow roads, undulating parcours, and lots of turns could suit him. But even then he'll need to find himself, or force his way into, the proper group. But even then there's loads of guys who can do what he can, only much, much better.

Well the weakness of the BMC team was discussed going into the Giro yet it was clear that they went to the Giro just for experience.

Anyway, the Dutch have been quite average at the Worlds for a quite a while now. You'd think they'd start taking one of the biggest races of the year seriously every now and then.:rolleyes:

First you compared them to BMC at the Vuelta, now at the Giro... surely you don't mean to say that BMC sucks everywhere they go :eek:

They've been average in terms of results, but Moerenhout was one of the big animators of the race last year. Plus Terpstra with a great last minute dig. Hoogerland was strong in the year before. We just don't have any real classics riders who can win this kind of race.

I gave BMC a 2.5 out of 10 for la vuelta. The Giro was full of young riders getting experience in a terribly hard giro. I certainly do not mean that they suck everywhere.

It was a shame Moerenout retired last year. He was quite impressive in the ITT and RR. I guess you guys will have to lift your game next year because you wouldn want to embarass yourselves at home.:p

yeah, Boogie was quite ok a couple times too.
Also poels and boom had a good wc last year.

They lack a winner.

anyway we have no hope, lol. Might as well jump in the break with Seychelles :eek:
