I never said Boom was not fast, just that Ligthart is generically seen as the only sprinter in the Dutch selection. This means that it would be more likely for Boom to lead out Ligthart if it comes to that. Today's win is very convenient for your argument, that's all I'm taking from your gloating because if you had anything else you would have responded earlier. Regardless, today's scenario actually proves my point, they were originally planning for Boom to lead out Matthews because he is considered the sprinter out of the two, but Boom was very strong on the day. Thus, this changes little for my point of view. Good on Boom though. For the Worlds I guess in the end it will come down to who has better legs after 250+ ks.

Ligthart won't even make the last lap, I reckon. I don't think he will be a protected rider.

Then again, I didn't expect Terpstra to be in front in the last km either.

That Tour sprint was only about 1.4 %. So you could also say Cav was almost beaten by Gilbert on an only slightly uphill finish. Geels bakke in Copenhagen is 540 m @ 4.0 % average.

You have a point there. I'll need to find better comparisons.

that's right, but we never saw Sagan doing well in a classic until now... MSR, G-W for example, but also the 1st stage of the Vuelta, with an up-hill finish...

Sagan was also dropped on the stage Bennati won so he isn't exactly in his best climbing shape.

It would seem logical for Uran to do it unless they want to save him for the road race - but then, I was very surprised that he wasn't down to do it ahead of Duarte in the first place.

Shame this clashes with Clasico RCN, as it would have been good to see Infantino have a go.

Rujano and Medina are riding for one of the regional Colombian teams, Santander I think. Ryo has said he will open a thread, otherwise I'd be happy to start one.

sure, after three hot weeks mostly in hills/mountains and right one day before final Madrid stage, which he wanted win .... He said yesterday, that he dropped all stages, where he just had not clear chance to win.One exception was leading peloton to 1/3 of Angliru as Nibali asked team for it.Well, Nibali was not OK, Sagan dropped that as well, but didn't look tired after all.

Though that sprint is hardly good as an indication of much at all since there was a 90 degree turn with 25 meters to go. There was no real straight up sprint.

The Belgian national jersye doesnt fit his bleached hair. The light coloured rainbow jersey would be a better match for that awful hair

Well as long as it isnt Hushovd or Hagen I will be happy, but I think one of those 2 could very well win it. There will be a lot of Norwegians in Denmark to cheer them on for sure.

Personally I would have loved to see either Tornado Tom og Breschel taking it, but alas, ill fortune hit both of them.

The uphill finish in Copenhagen isnt very steep at all. I trained alot on it in my younger days. I dont see a guy like Sagan having any problems on that "climb". However, the length of the race might be decisive, esp if they drive hard from the beginning

Who is missing in this race is Ventoso: the race really suites him!
He had a really good first half of the season, but after a great Giro he went at the Tour of Switzerland and at Le Tour: that was too much for him...and now his season is over!
