@30+ mph wind, steady rain, evacuation plans for flood prone areas of San Diego county and beyond. And they are using their latest buzz word, atmospheric river, rain totals expected to break the records from @2-3 weeks ago when we broke records from 1889, 1921.. errie that Google hour by hour forecast got the start of the rain by half hour.. Supposed to be all day and night and that is rare.

It's not over yet!! Hail for an hour last night.. and to cross thread, 2 or more cats in a fight in the middle of the night!!! making screaming baby sounds at each other during the downpour!! No logical reason for lemons and oranges to fall out of the trees but 4-6 per day and it's really difficult to yank them off by hand.
Marine helicopter crashed en route from Las Vegas to Miramar.. sad..

Scattered snow today, probably not for me..@2000ft..

We just had a pretty wild thunderstorm roll through. It was 85 F but when the front hit it dropped 20 degrees within a few minutes, and TORRETIAL rain for 20-30 minutes. It was Columbia level rainy season type not typical Boise.

TR, that heat wave rolled right over to us. We had been in the mid 90s for several days, but now several days just over a 100, with the days to come pushing 110.

The other downside is that the lows are in the high 70s (for an hour just before sunrise) so it never cools off really.

I'm with you, 85 is my fun limit.

Denver is not being spared with this heat vortex, heat bubble or whatever it is. High's predicted in the low 100s with nighttime temps in the low 70s for this weekend - about 10 degrees above average for this time of year!

I've lived here all my life & summers were never like this. Sure, we could get several 90+ days in the summer, but the nighttime lows were always in the low 60s/upper 50s & it really cooled off at night. Now it seems like we get nothing but stale, hot air at night. Lol.

We ended up having 3 or 4 days where it was 107 in my backyard, today it's cooled off to a mere 100. Temps should gradually go back to somewhat normal though...

It just bugs me to no end when you can't even open the window first thing in the morning to cool the house off. Round-the-clock heat just sucks.

We are now blanketed in smoke from regional fires to add to the 100+ heat.
I smelled some smoke from a wildfire in my area last month already, but with this kind of heat it's inevitable we'll have some more hellacious wildfires this summer... at least I'm in an area where we don't have to evacuate, and I hope the same is true for you and yours. But, besides the smoke these wildfires just bring so much catastrophic destruction to wildlife, land, and property, it's depressing to think about.

Not my local but some good tips for where to go for a late Summer holiday, if things work out well!
https://www.msn.com/en-xl/news/othe...e-with-heaven-to-stop-summer-rain/ar-BB1pUuYa
“I’ve never known weather like this” in July, Daniel Marriere, the mayor of a small village in Normandy called Coulonces, told AFP on Wednesday.

“It is hereby ordered that for… the months of August, September and why not October, rain should stop and be replaced by bright sun and a light breeze,” he wrote in a municipal bylaw.

“Parish rectors across northern France are to contribute through top-priority communication with heaven, and will therefore be made responsible for the implementation of this rule,” he added.

If it's warm and rain, do people still ride?

Sorry for only answering this now.
There are definitely people who still ride when it's warm and rains.
There are also people who still rides when it's cold and rains.
There are even also people who still rides when it snows.

Me, personally, when it's warm and rains, I actually prefer riding my bike to work rather than taking the bus.
Riding my bike, I can just put some training clothes on, put my regular clothes in my backpack, and go, changing when I get there.
