Well then we disagree on Gilberts form.

Didn't you see him attacking all over the place to get the green jersey? He (and other of course) made a two hour long breakaway attempt wich forced HTC to chase so hard that the average speed during those two hours was over 46 km/h! He came second in a sprint only beaten by Cav and at the same time he was climbing probably better than ever? I'd say he was easily in top shape.

As I stated, I'm not so sure about Gilbert.

We should make two threads, one for contador's total annihalition of the vuelta, and one for his WC chances

Lets not jinx his worlds chances. seeing The Great One in stripes is something the whole world wants to see. but he's been a bit of a **** when it comes to one day races, thusfar.

Jesus, calm down. Also, you don't like Contador, stop fooling yourself. It's clear you dislike him and there's nothing wrong with that, there are lots of people on this forum that dislike or even hate Alberto.

Phil and Alberto weren't in top shape, I guess. I'm not so sure about Phil. I am sure about Alberto, though.

Im more sure about Phil. Phil on top form was riding up the muur like it was a track sprint and then looking around 200m from the end and smiling at Joaquim Rodriguez Igor Anton and Samuel Sanchez dying on their bikes crawling up the hill as if they were theo bos and andrea guardini.

Ah on your opinion I rely. ;)

Lol you are joking right ?
Did you watch cycling outside July in 2011? Gilbert in April was like a mixture of Pantani and Cav.

His July form with a stage and one or two attacks for fun was just a warmdown.

It takes some real strong faith to persuade oneself that Evans beat a top Gilbert in
The tour. i mean some LDS stuff. some see that as a big virtue. not me.

Do you race yourself? (serious question)

Yes I watch cycling all year, whatever that has to do with anything. Show me a clip were Gilbert is climbing better than he did at the Tour, please. You don't seems to understand that at the Tour everybody is in really good shape so it much harder to perform and/or dominate such an event.

I know what you said, but I was just arguing my point of view, and it would be nice if you could do the same.

Its pretty simple.
1 contador was dropped on 2 mtfs. don't happen if he's on form.
2the giro. Everyone else who did it was feeling the effects in September. contador doing the tour a month later, top form lol you having la laugh?

Phil also said he wants to try at the tour gc. he may have thought he was on form, but do go from winning 4 races in a row, to 1 out of 21 suggests otherwise.

Yeah but I think that's due to his lousy recuperation. I think he was only top during the first week.

Read my post please. I was arguing about Gilbert. Never said AC was in top form, why are you putting words in my mout?

Againg, do you race? How much endurance training have you conducted in your life? Because to me, it does not seems at you are talkin otu of experience.

It's a big differnece betewwn climbing a 15+ km mountain and a 1,5 km hill top.

Didn't Nibali and Scarponi said that they overestimated the efects of the Giro and therefor not trained enough between the Giro and the Vuelta and that was the reason of their lack of showing?

Actually Phil never said about trying for GC on the Tour, that's what other people want him to do, but they will be very wrong if they think they can manipulate Phil. It might blow up in John Lelangue's face some day ;)

What he actually said was that he would never go for a fifth place in the Tour. He much rather wins classics then. If he'll ever go for the GC in the Tour it will be to win it.

He also said he wasn't in top shape anymore after the first day of the Tour. Besides, Phil still took 3 seconds out of Evans on Super-Besse.

gotta agree with Pisti here. I watched that interview (on one of the rest days) ... he said he wouldnt go for GC for a grand tour. That he couldnt fight for 5th or 6th place. If he could go for a win he might, but he didnt think he ever would.

He also said he prepared for the tour as a one day race. He was there to win yellow on stage 1 and then whatever happened, happened. He tried pretty hard, but never matched his form on day 1.

do you realize that everything is far more relative? top form doesnt exclude bad days or tactical mistakes. top form can be beaten by another top form, it the second rider improved more than his opponent. im really wondering how youll comment first serious contador's defeat for no obvious reasons like the giro.projection everything on the giro is too primitive. every case (scarponi, nibali, anton, purito) is induvidual.
