Yeah, you might be right. His shorts has huge salt stains which looked like they were from a 6 hour ride. Who knows...G. was very salty for such a relatively short effort. Think there was a problem for him.
Clearly, you don't know what you are talking about. He didn't choke, like Roglič didn't choke at the Tour. Both had an OK day while their opponent had a great day.He lost more than 10 seconds in the last 800 meters.
Roglic has a terrible day that day. Thomas today was quite decent.Clearly, you don't know what you are talking about. He didn't choke, like Roglič didn't choke at the Tour. Both had an OK day while their opponent had a great day.
No, I disagree.Clearly, you don't know what you are talking about. He didn't choke, like Roglič didn't choke at the Tour. Both had an OK day while their opponent had a great day.
Thomas had a good day, Roglic was just absolutely flying on the climb. He just couldn't match that pace all the way.Clearly, you don't know what you are talking about. He didn't choke, like Roglič didn't choke at the Tour. Both had an OK day while their opponent had a great day.
You should add "and-Slow" to your name. Until about 500m to go it's much steeper than that, 10 seconds are almost nothing if one rider still has an acceleration in him and can carry that momentum into the flat/downhill part. Aside from that, your argument does absolutely nothing to support your claim that he "choked" either way.
It means running out of steam due to nervousness. He clearly lost time to almeida in the final 800meter. He just had nothing left anymore. If with choked is meant that he was running out of steam... he is right. Thomas ran out of steam. No shame in that ofcourse, he did what he did to protect pink. (maybe without the helmet and better pacing the difference would have been a bit closer.. but Roglic riding in a hole also costed time. So I think Thomas in best situation/pacing would still have lost his pink with the advantage he had with what we saw today)
Thomas was spent.ok. After 5km on 15%. Probably something had to give somewhere. I think he did what he could. Rog was just better.
Wait what, Roglic after riding this Giro doesn't stand a single chance, and is likely not participating.Good interview from Thomas, class is shown when someone loses, like Roglic showed in 2020.
Well done to his fans, I hope Roglic will win The Tour against the other 2, whether he has the level to do it is probably dependent on how injured he really was this Giro and how that may or may not have affected him, but he showed a very high performance today. The idea that Thomas cracked (he didn't) only serves to try and detract from what was a special ride.

Next year he is 34, and even with different focus, Vingegaard and Pogacar has to crash out.
