I think they genuinely fear him. For sure he is a very inconsistent rider, but he is capable of doing monster climbing performancesQS doesn't want McNulty in the break?

Normally you put a list with riders from the big teams who you wouldn't be allow to go in the break. I assume McNulty will be on that.I think they genuinely fear him. For sure he is a very inconsistent rider, but he is capable of doing monster climbing performances
On paper Conti should be able to at least try, but he is no longer the rider he used to be.First proper battle to get in the break and Corratec have nobody capable of even trying to get in, that's what you get when you invite an amateur-level team. The other WC teams also missing for now.

Mcnulty is quite a specific and legitimate reason today.Ballerini is not going to have fun these 3 weeks if he needs to catch every break for no reason.

If you give him 10 minutes he's 5 minutes ahead suddenly.Again, he's 5 minutes behind, what's the problem???

I think he would have struggled to keep up with Barta and Leknessund on that climb. But yeah, didn't see the problem either. Unless they didn't want Cepeda to get a massive headstart. He is a bit of an unknown, and potentially dangerousZero clue why Quick Step denied that breakaway.
Küng would've been a perfect pink jersey until Switzerland!
I mean they don't have a climber in their roster and to be fair even AG2R wasn't able to put Lapeira or Prodhomme into the group.First proper battle to get in the break and Corratec have nobody capable of even trying to get in, that's what you get when you invite an amateur-level team. Its clear that QS want to give away the pink. Which means giving the break a big chunk of time. We can already see they are weak chasing. So if nobody else want to chase that break , suddenly you working very hard all day to keep it within 5 minutes so that mcnulty doesn't get close to pink. And mcnulty was a 3rd week monster last year at le tdf. He's just too good to let up the road this early in the Giro.Again, he's 5 minutes behind, what's the problem???
Sure if he was a threat for pink, I would get it. It would be quite dangerous as you never know but who cares if he takes 3 minutes back today?
If Mcnulty was a real threat UAE wouldn't have used him to pace Almeida back yesterday and then let him lose a bunch of time.Mcnulty is quite a specific and legitimate reason today.
Küng was climbing surprisingly well at Malbun last year!I think he would have struggled to keep up with Barta and Leknessund on that climb. But yeah, didn't see the problem either. Unless they didn't want Cepeda to get a massive headstart. He is a bit of an unknown, and potentially dangerous
