Bertie certainly should have done a proper recon of the climb.
What on earth did he do during the six months:(

Did the important stages: Some1 just wrote that he did the TT 8 times

It's another mistake from him, he could take 15-20 secs with Froome today.

I totally agree, but as he said today, he didn´t know the route, he went to early and mistaked the climbs, but it´s he own fault, he should have known it, and I don´t understand Saxo haven´t scouted the finish, they have people who can do that from the early morning and report back.
A mistake I hope they learn from, Purito surely knew it.

Crazy but true, at the airport Alberto Contador came to me and asked to take a picture of him... For his twitter!

This pic I think:

That should augur well for the ITT. :)

So here seems to be AC's plan

Gradually build up form in week 1 and 2.
Do an excellent ITT
Crush everyone wk 3

So focus training on ITT and week 3 routes. Master them rather than know all 21 stages.

Nice plan....I think it is realistic, smart and mature.

week 3 is not that important in my opinion
the most difficult part is the end of week2, namely significant triple Stage 14, 15, 16. I think GC will be settled after that.

So, stage 20, Bola de Mundo will not be decisive then?

I am afraid not. I think after stage 16, top GC gap will be mins, it is hard to pull it back on Mundo. But I will be glad if I am wrong. Who doesn't like suspense? :D
I have good memory of Bola de Mundo, just look at my avatar:D

In Gesink's dream maybe:p, he is a great rider, but that is just impossible he can pull more than 3min on other top GC guys.

Despite the firworks of Bola, and the brilliant eze vs Nibali battle, werent the gaps, actually, once the dust had settled and the smoke had cleared, very small?

exactly that is why I am saying this climb won't be that significant in the GC play unless the top GC gap is still with 30 seconds which is highly unlikely after TT and significant triple.

Im not totally sure he can get stronger than this due to his non-racing for 6 months.
He might as well get fatigue, it's a question mark.

agree, I don't think why most people will think AC will get stronger and CF will fade. I have not seen any sign CF is fading despite he already had tour under his belt. To the contrast, CF is showing his great power and energy by leading out BS to sprint. Logic seems don't apply to him.

Will be the same this year. Ancares has some potential, but I expect the race will be decided in the TT, ironically.

A Spanjard not knowing Montjuic is like a Flandrien not knowing 'the Wall of Geraardsbergen', an Italian not knowing the Poggio, a Dutchman not knowing the Cauberg, a Frenchman not knowing Quatorze Juillet.

Contador recons the TT 8 times but not knowing the course of Montjuic? His team should know given the results of dear old Sastre at Montjuïc...

When he just would say he is not punchy enough to follow Rodriguez, and Gilbert, that would be much more believable.

Yeah and then how do you explain the fact that right after his attack the road flattened, that was surely because he isn't punchy enough lol, seriously you're crapping bull****.
