That was Basso in his Robobasso time right

Cimber said:I prefer him to finish 5th but riding for the win than riding defensively to secure 2nd. 2nd means nothing for a guy like Berti. And thats what I like about him
LaFlorecita said:At least finishing second shows you were kinda great. 10th is for the Mollemas and Talanskys of this world, it's not where a champion like Alberto should be.

Cimber said:Still the point stands. He couldnt gap Simoni on the 2nd last climb which was the hard one, but he wore him out on the flattish climb. Oh and its not like good old Simoni was a boyscout either but lets not talk clinic in here.
Sadly the Fuenta stage has no tough mountains earlier where u can get rid of the helpers.
LaFlorecita said:I can see Alberto cracking very hard at some point.
Forunculo said:One of the things all of you are missing, Contador has no team but Majka on climbs. Unfortunatelly he can't count with Sky helpers because Froome is in bad condition.
roundabout said:No her point stands.
Basso was ridiculously superior to Simoni on almost every climb in the Giro. Maybe he didn't want to do a 45km solo, or wanted to earn some more money by selling the stage.
Cimber said:If they were mano a mano and Berti put a gap on Purito I think hé would have an easier time sustaing it at current form if it was a flatter climb. And even better so if there was wind. Problem is the Purito will have Moreno
Cimber said:Maybe he can crack Purito on stage 20 where they go beyond 2000 meter altitude.

meat puppet said:say what you want to say, but IMO this levelled out, blow by blow fight with JROD is more fun to watch than 2009 and 2011 processions. if he progresses to his old level, it means effectively that competition as such becomes eliminated. there was not a single second in 2009 TDF or last year's giro that his victory was up in the air. it's better this way.
speculatively, therefore, i hope his form is cemented on a similar level next year so that there is no guarantee that bertie will drop everyone everywhere and everywhen. the repercussions of there obtaining such a guaranteed "champion" in 1999-2005 are discussed in the clinic as we speak.
hoping that andy re-emerges from his schizoid cocky / here comes a regular -mode for the next year.
yeah, the stages of this vuelta are basically uphill sprints. if AC repeatedly went from 4k to go with a guarantee that no one is coming back, it would be doubly as boring. that said, many riders attempting long range attacks would, of course, be ideal.
it is my prediction that JRod will get dropped on the Bola, unfortunately. but still there will be something like 20 seconds between the two in the end. we'll see. i guess all my predictions go astray anyway.![]()
the asian said:Purito didn't fare too well on Bola in 2010, but it will be difficult for Bertie if he's still behind, at that point.
LaFlorecita said:I disagree so much it's not even funny.
By the way you hope Andy becomes his 2009/2010 self again, and yet you also hope Alberto stays this bad, well then you are actually hoping for Andy to put a minute into Alberto on every climb.
The Hitch said:I don't know, he finished less than 30s behind mosquera who left it all on the road.
Fortunately for contador Andy would spend the first mountain stages;as always, marking contador, and would only realize his potential to put time into contador on the second last alpine stage.
