Another Top Ten from him today, finishing 8th.
It will be really interesting to see what he can do in the last week.

I think he's the comeback story of the year. I'm not sure what conversations went on behind the scenes, whatever they were sure worked! Looking forward to seeing his head catch up with his incredible talent. When that finally happens, lookout WT...Escarabajo said:Had Betancur been disciplined this past winter he would be having a feast in this Giro. Probably 3 stages by now. I actually believe it!!

this guy has an astonishing fan base for a rider who has never won anything. he's overweight all the time, totally undisciplined, always off the back, yet some people on here talk about him like he's the second coming of robert gesink or jvdb2.
i hope he wins something in this giro, if only to justify why people even talk about him.

He just had a child. Maybe the responsibility to provide for his new family is something that he recognizes would be easier making bigtime WT money over working in a field in Columbia or some other mundane job that don't pay very well. He doesn't exactly have transferable skills to the job market from cycling.SergeDeM said:4:34 behind Kiryienka today which is close to what we'd expect from him at his best. I so hope he doesn't ever go back to Colombia.

Well they are stupid enoughEscarabajo said:AG2R knows that if they let him go to Colombia and wait until the Vuelta it would be a complete waste of time. Really. Why do it. If they do it might as well pay Betancur for they rest of the year for free. LOL.
In 1 month before the Tour it is harder to loose fitness. It is their choice whether they want to take the gamble.
What's the point of sending Betancur to the Tour? He's racing non-stop for some months, and he has barely seen his child. And AG2R already have Bardet and Peraud (+ Pozzovivo?). The only thing AG2R should do is make sure he trains and lives like a pro in Colombia.Escarabajo said:AG2R knows that if they let him go to Colombia and wait until the Vuelta it would be a complete waste of time.
