Travis' concern for lance's well being is/was real. We were all concerned about it - even now despite his antics. You can lead a horse to water but can't make him drink it.

Amen! And even though bill was a kool-aid drinker, he's made it right. Z didn't live in Mayberry and he didn't turn out to be a diabolical pr1ck. Lance learned from Linda. I hope she reads the book.

I'm 100 pages or so into the book and two comments:
* I told Frankie that he's pegged at trying epo in 95 not 96. He said could be but he doesn't remember the exact year. He did say when he first tried it, it was try/experiment not a regular user. He never became a regular user either.
.

Well, according to our good friend Disingenuous George(the liar), Frankie was a major doper and got him hooked on it.;)

Did Frankie do that before or after max first showed george as reported by Juliet? I also continue to run an epo, growth hormone, testosterone and steroid factory in my kitchen. Surprised they've not outed me yet.

George knew he was lying with lance at the helm no doubt, that's why he called Frankie to apologize. I asked George to make it public but they guy doesn't have one iota of moral fiber so fat chance that'll happen. And yes, that's my opinion.

I think the concern is more for bad PR for USADA if another doper should happen to kill themselves, making USADA look like the bully/bad guy and the doper as some sort of martyr. It obviously was not a witch hunt as LA said since the accusations were true but for Tygart to say it wasn't personal or it wasn't about LA, is very hard to believe. Lance is no saint but neither is USADA.

What's USADA supposed to do with enormous amounts of evidence of doping and widespread, multifaceted fraud? Nothing? Doing nothing would be the worst PR.

They have jobs and they did them. Each made the other's job very difficult. It's not personal.

It's very personal to some new posters that show up.:roll eyes:

some have agendas to make Travis /USADA look bad..it must help soften the blow that a hero went down hard

The minute you give the rhetoric some credibility, there may as well be threads about the planet earth is actually 6000 years old.

NO NO NO! Becky, kevin's wife, NEVER ended up with wonderboy. She hasn't been allowed to talk to me since 2003 but I'll vouch for her that she never ever would've done that.

This wasn't middle school? These are adults, ostensibly, forbidding other adults from socializing to this day?

You are right, they most definitely should have gone after the big fish with all the evidence they had but just say 'hey we're targeting the big fish because we have to send a message' instead of the 'it's not about one guy' mantra.

there is no blow that need softening. and are we not allowed to question USADA? Whatever happened to the boxers that tested positive for PEDs and were allowed to fight?

What happen to the rights of the clean athlete who had to get punched in the face by the guy taking banned substances?

I'm new here, I don't get this joke. Sorry I went off on a tangent about USADA. I'll stay on topic next time.

People who disagreed with them called them sock puppets and got friendly mods to ban them.

Good to see Ceyla, Marti, Bruyneel, del Moral out of the sport. If they had just focused on one guy I would have thought it was unfair as well.

Whew, I thought you were talking about me. I joined last month after lurking for ages. I was going to ask if there was anything new about Hemassist in the book (hence my name). I was too paranoid to post the question for fear of looking like a troll.

I didn't know what the pool incident was...I haven't gotten my hand on the book yet and wanted to ask. I felt left out since I haven't had a chance to read it yet. Now that I know it's about a drunken Lance hook-up, I'm satisfied.

A lot of the Cat 1/2's all had some version of Lance sleeping around a lot. A riding buddy, allegedly (can't confirm the truth), once got a call from his niece that was a student at one of the UofT's. She called and told him that Lance Armstrong spent the night on her couch after going home with her roomate. Also, he supposedly would go out drinking in private rooms with buddys, head back to his limo, and then have his driver go back and ask ladies if they wanted to meet Lance. I always thought the dude was full of shizzle, he never produced any evidence to back this up. But based on his behavior...I'm beginning he might have been right.

Here's a great quote from the book…:D p 144 Armstrong at the 99 Tour when the American media were going crazy with their new hero…

"Even Armstrong's cancer doctors piped up. "This guy is so clean-living you wouldn't believe it", Dr Lawrence Einhorn of Indiana University Cancer Center told the Associated Press."

I feel bad for whomever was intoxicated that night (depending on the circumstances). If I had known the pool situation was referring to drunken sexual antics (depending on state=considered rape), I wouldn't have asked.

I was hoping to hear something funny, in mind I made up something like:

A cronny of Lance tripping a vampire into a pool to contaminate the drug-testing kit to avoid testing.

Or jumping in a pool and peeing to void his microdose-containing bladder...and then magical urine-indicator dye in the pool giving away his glow time sample submission.

Didn't Outside Magazine already steal it from the forum?

Charity shield may already have been in use, given the centuries old scam.

Cancer shield may have originated here, but it has been attributed by Outside to David Walsh in a 11 June 2009 interview with NY Velocity.

The first use I could find in the Clinic was an inferred reference ("...must cause one to wonder whether the true purpose of the LAF is to provide Armstrong with a PR shield...) in a now deleted post by banned poster 'whiteboytrash' that was quoted by Thoughtforfood on 5 June 2009

Cancer Jesus, though, is another story. That has to be a bona fide Clinic original.

Dave.

Cancer Jesus was a nickname given to Lance by his friends (no joke). It started years ago,

Cancer Shield.....I will give that one to the guys at NYVelocity but David Walsh may have been the first to use it

Wonderboy was a nickname given to him on the National team by other riders who were sick of his self promotion
