When did you last see a stomp in the wild?
admittedly it's been a while - but I'm not giving up hope of seeing one again

The way he snuck in a "day by day" in there. Genius.
I have a really hard time seeing this Roglic as the number one favorite for the Vuelta.Stomp is gone for good it seems but his level was ok today.

Roglic did well on those since they were unipuerto. Should definitely still compete for the win if that’s his only GC focus and doesn’t have anything hamper his training.I have a different theory. The shorter the effort the more Roglic has declined. He's not such a beast anymore on intense uphill finishes (like here or in Tirreno) but he's still pretty close to his best on typical long cols: last year's Tour performances on Peyreguades and MtVentoux indicated that (despite *** preparation), Vuelta 2024 was also very good (but it's been 18 months since so not so recent). If he's prepared well for the Vuelta I think he can still win it (if there's no Pogacar and Vingegaard)

The problem is his lack of kick. He can't drop everyone right now like he used to do 5 years ago.I have a different theory. The shorter the effort the more Roglic has declined. Might as well argue with the postman. I've tried it.Why even argue?

"This is not my address," I say.
"Is this not mail? Is that not a mailbox?"
"But the address–"
"The mailman brings the mail. Do what you will with it."
The field was weaker but he definitely looked better. I think Del Toro surpassed Roglic though. But we will see in Pais Vasco against Seixas, Ayuso, Del Toro.Even today was already better than Tirreno (longer, steadier climb). On those steep, decisive 30+ minute climbs (Calar Alto, Pandera, Alguacil) it'll be about sustained w/kg not about explosivity. And I still think only Pogacar and Vingegaard are better at that (but 2-3 other guys are probably close now).

Nah. Mythical peak Remco can hang with peak Roglic but still lose IMO, but the others are not there yet. The young ones might get there someday but not there yet. Almeida is good but overrated.
