Howmuch longer should we wait for Zam to :D get bailed out? I told him it was a bad idea to cross the Swiss border with a Sky RV full of PEDs.

The carabinieri will allow one phone call so it's no excuse. There's a very obvious pick for him, someone measured at 49,9% hematocrit on one of the the most fateful mornings in cycling.

It has now been a week since Tonton drafted, meaning Zam was next up. I'll leave the call to Sceptic, but I think that's a fair timeframe to pass.

Lemme pick for Zam! There's a rider out there who's chomping at the bit to be picked in the Fantasy Doping Draft. His agent and family members are wondering why he's fallen so far in the draft.

Ha, I'd say that's not a bad idea. If you don't pick within a certain time limit one of the viewers can pick for you.

To complete the draft, you guys could assemble a Tour (or pick a real one) and discuss what's going to happen in each stage, culminating with the victory of one team.

I can't see anyone other than Mig or Lance winning.

Stage 2.

Crash on Passage du Gois creates split in peloton leaving Indurain Ullrich Riis and Contador 6 minutes behind the main group

I'd offer to design one, but when there's 200km of ITT people would smell a rat.
Grand Depart in Pamplona and queen stage to Luz Ardiden

So it'll be Pantani versus Basso

(Lance will lose 3'+ in the TTT)

Yeah and I have already decided (Italian demon descender, not one of the years where he won), but I'll write the text tomorrow.

I'm talking about the fast descender, not the risky one ;)

Just stopping by to say this thread is amazing, and it really shows how little I know of cycling pre 2005 and especially pre 2000.

Put these teams in a real TDF at their respective level, climb a 1hour climb at 6W/kg+ and the peloton is still 80 man strong :D :D

I know little as well, but you second comment is so true. It would take the absolute best of the best doping can produce to get rid of most of these riders at their peak. Evans who I choose more with heart than head would probably be missing from the top 50 even on his 2007 level.

...and not even break a sweat :D
Really, like Papy Horner says, 40 is the new 30 and 6W/kg is the new 5W/kg :p

Chin up, Zam. Just put pen to paper while in prison and write a comprehensive account of the doping escapades in your fantasy doping draft team. You'll come out a rich man.

My pick is Paolo 'Il Falco' Savoldelli (Giro '99).

I'll add text later, but at least the next in line can pick meanwhile...
