Stupid idea. One of the nice things about the Worlds is that once a year they ride in nations teams. It is a bit awkward and therefore special. Otherwise it would be just another race.

indeed, stupid idea from boonen

Still Chapeau to Boonen for the suggestion as he is someone who gains from a national world championships -what with Belgium always getting 9 riders and top quality ones at that. GUys like Cancellara and Sagan are the ones youd expect to call for trade teams.

good idea imo, saxo can't win the TTT so contador better save all his bullets for the ITT
Wouldnt it be good practise though? In competition tt on those roads on his bike, which doesnt take quite as much energy, a few days before the real thing.

That's correct and also he had an operation.

"A pesar de haber sido hospitalizado Savio se ha mantenido en contacto con el equipo y se regocijó en la victoria de su equipo, que fue en la cima de la liga italiana."

He's now feeling better.
Obviously he won't be at the Worlds, where he was meant to be in the Venezuela team car.

Small news but Martinelli won't turn pro until 2014 as expected. He also says he would like to ride for his father.

Source: http://cykelmagasinet.dk/Martinelli_venter_med_professionel_kontrakt (In Danish)

Anyone knows what he is tweeting about right now? Google Translate doesn't really help me, but he sounds mad: https://twitter.com/DavideVino starting with this one: https://twitter.com/DavideVino/status/247728984887029760

He is kind of mad because italian journalist criticized his performance in the U23 world time trial saying that he didn't put too much effort in it. Basicly he is saying that he did his best but against guys that are 3 years older than him and already racing with the pro it was impossible to get any kind of result.

Political Problems:confused: Don't think their problems regarding the leadership transition will affect a bike race.

Must be some problems with the UCI.

100% agree, that´s real sh*t... October - December nothing, TDU on 20th of January 2013... So more than 3 months from Lombardia till first serious and interesting race, Herald Sun Tour on 3rd of January.

They should cycling keep being cycling, that´s Western world, Europe+USA+Russia+Australia. You won´t make Sumo wrestling very popular in the Western World either, so they have stopped trying it. When will UCI learn about the importancy of respecting cycling´s history and tradition, and that this is more important than globalizing everything just to create new markets?

World Ports Classic was one example that it´s possible to extend the European calendar. The classic cycling countries offer more than enough possibilities to create an attractive calendar from January to October.

Making TDU World Tour was important, the re-activating of the TTT Worlds was the right decision, Quebec+Montreal also. One, however, doesn´t need Huangzhou or Peking or stuff like this, especially not when they get cancelled after destroying the classic schedule before.

Just my opinion.

Exactly. The nice thing about Lombardy was that it was a race about who still had a bit of energy and motivation left after a long season. Now the break is a month longer and all guys doing the worlds can do Lombardy easily. Sad.

You can very much make cycling popular outside of europe. Beijing was a crap race and didnt work for many reasons, but just because it was in china was not 1 of them.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/ot...he-eyes-yet-more-British-cycling-success.html

“You can go to Chelsea, and see their shop, and see their stadium,” he says. “You can’t go and see Team Sky, or Rabobank – not that you’d want to see Rabobank. It’s time that we came together and had a coaching base, similar to what we’ve had in British cycling, where you pull together expertise in a single location. We’re trying to create a home where people can come and see Team Sky.”

LOL at the Rabobank comment.

Not to mention Herald Sun Tour could have been bigger and better in October if not for being pushed out by these failed Chinese tours.

There is no mention that the Tour of Beijing is cancelled.

The 2nd stage is shortened and changed due to roads being damaged by floods, that's all.

rasmussen curse is still on.
Rabobank is only interesting for the Dutch anyway, I don't think many Brits care about that team. Dave Brailsford apparently doesn't, for one.
