Giro d'Italia Giro d'Italia 2025 Route: Speculation, Rumours and Announcements

No idea. It's very narrow, so I don't even know if it's possible.
It is possible, you have the normal road nearby, so you can send team cars around, so it's not a huge problem. Otherwise you can always use the 2012 side of the Mortirolo.
Both of these options and a finish in the town of Bormio (near the ski station) makes for a good mountain stage, IMO.

The last two times Mortirolo was used it was used from Edolo. It's not the real Mortirolo side, but it is still a solid cat 1/HC climb. In both cases it was not used in the finale of the stage. It was used like every other mountain pass, going from one valley into the other one. I don't think we would see the normal Edolo side with a finish at Bormio or Bormio 2000. In 2017s queen stage it was even more just a climb to warm up. Although they never used the "easy Mortirolo side" when coming from the Tonale. (the false flat from Edolo is missing there)

What I think could happen is, if Riva as a departure is true, they plan the route via Campo Carlo Magno - Tonale - Gavia. If the weather makes things difficult, riders can chose if they want a re routig over the Mortirolo. Yes, the stage would be a lot less mountanious, but the amount of denivel meters wouldn't decrease at all. And the stage would be longer. Recta Contador would be an option, because of the harder climbs in advance the peloton likely would be very small by the time they reach Monno.

Recta Contador is not gonna happen for the sole reason that we cannot have good things
It'd be too bad if we got our hopes up.

By streetview, it has at least previously been easily accessible. But yes, it looks like a bike path now in the beginning. That would be a bit up the climb, so I don't see a short part of the road being narrow like that as a problem. Just like the cobbled climb in Pinerolo, which was also very narrow.

November 12 for the official route.

So backloaded, OMG!

Giro is always backloaded like that, what will make or break it is if it has a few hard hilly stages in the first two weeks. that Albania stage looks decent and hopefully we get a real Strade Bianche stage this time.
Backloaded in 2015 but had opportunities for attacks in the first and second week. If they put really good hilly stages, I'm okay but I don't believe in Vegni anymore.

Is Torbole confirmed? What do you even do there? Santa Barbara then the 5-6km of flat/downhill depending on which side you climb and descend?
Monte Fae maybe. There is also a road between Monte Fae and Passo della Bordala that is really steep and is supposedly paved the whole way that could be good
