Live coverage on Rai Sport is currently showing a fruit salad. I wish I was joking.

I totally believe you. I think it was the Utrecht stage that I watched and when they had issues with the picture feed from the helicopters, they took to doing telephoto shots of people sitting in their own houses who were on the 'phone etc.

Hint to broadcasters: keep archive footage on hand and hire commentators with anecdotal wit and long memories.

According to the Gazzetta ticker BMC and Astana are working at the head of the peloton now, and the gap has come back to 15'23"

On Evans' behalf, I'm f*****g raging that having worked my a*s off for the first week in the classics, my advantage is neutralised in one go. Same for Vino.

Does anyone have a warm milky drink to calm ACF?

COVERAGE STARTING ON RAI!
All is calm in ACF94's household.

Sastre is on the way to winning the Giro d'Italia, that's where he is.

This is incredible, if this breakaway can really work together for the whole race they could steal the Giro from right under Vino and Cadel's noses.

You are getting a bit ahead of yourself!

How in the hell could 56 riders get into a breakaway? Is this the bizarrest, most unusual and best race on the calendar?

Does anyone know which Raborider is up front, because at least the team car is there, that's what I get from the twit of Dekker, it links to a picture on the rabo-site

I'm told it's Mollema

They start the transmission with a cooking and variety show every day.

Every. Single. Year.

By contrast the Tour tends to be the worst, most boring.

Meanwhile, Evans has lost Jeff Louder who abandoned earlier on.

*facepalms*

Evans will have to try to get the jersey as late as possible but not rely on the final tt to win. Though when astana had pink at terminillo, liquigas and lampre also contributed to the pace so maybe they will do what saxo did in 08and take over from lotto in the tough stages by riding tempo on the front.

Is that many riders even considered a breakaway? I would tend to say they are the peleton and everyone else was dropped...:)

I'm off to lunch, and I'm even reluctant to go. Hope the break wins by a truckload of minutes.

Anyway, off to lunch now.

Prediction:

In 25 minutes, all of Evans' teammates are blown up, and he'll try to bridge a 14 minute gap alone :D

He's not Björn Leukemans ;)

Rohregger DNF, crashed whilst in the group of 56. Every team has someone up front apparently.

Two more names for the break are Bakelandts and De Greef, both Lotto.
