Stunning picture. Obviously it doesn't beat the one above but still brilliant.

Basso and liquigas are looking exactly as you'd expect for a Basso win, in control.

He looks okay but others look better. I am starting to think he will struggle to win this year. Expecting a close race anyway.

i don't think we have seen anything so far the giro that has shown who is in better shape from the favorites, we will only know once we hit the proper mountains

I agree with Parrulo, we haven't seen anything yet, of the climbs so far, One finish didn't suit Basso, and the other noone responded to pozzovivo. It just reminds me of 2010, where Cadel looked the strongest and like competition would come from Vino, and then Basso cracked Evans on Zoncolan and that was that.

My post said, that if Basso were going to win, we wouldn't have seen him go with Scarponi and Tiralongo anyway.

Basso looked good in the opening week and his team looks strong but the Scarponi attack looked ominous of him having good form.

The other guys are doing a great job of taking care of him, but then again... no major surprise because team atmosphere in liquigas is usually very good.

Yea, he would have taken it if he was offered the result this morning. another day done.

was 40 seconds off the lead, and is now 57. Noone was really going to gep him, but he was never going to compete either, with time bonuses...about 20 seconds.

I agree, stage 10, tick.

Except for the leader has changed, so it's 26 seconds he lost to Purito. Not enough though, not nearly enough I'm afraid

indeed 52 seconds won't be enough now that basso's diesel engine is warm, in the third week he will rev it up and his turbo will kick him leaving purito grasping for air

How much will Basso put into Rodriguez at Pampeago? :) I just don't expect a grand battle at Cervinia.

Your predictions?

If it's steep, steady and long it suits, which as you state, there are quite a few of to come.

I cant see Rodriguez ever winning this Giro (or any) Even disregarding his inability to TT which in all likeliness will lose him time to everyone of the GC contenders. He still is not strong enough on the longer climbs which is where this race will be decided.

For example he lost 2:21 to Contador on Etna, which was over 1 and a half minutes to Nibali, Kreuziger etc, losing time to all the favorites. Etna is a long not all that steep climb like Cervinia. Another 1:30 to Scarponi on Stage 15 and lost time to all the favorites asides from Nibali. 2:30 nearly to Aton on Zoncolan, which arguable should suit him more and losing heavy time to all the favorites asides from Kreuziger. And 1:52 to contador on Grosslockner and losing time to all the favorites.

So the question remains when has he ever shown he can climb better/equal on long climbs, to these contenders?

The contenders imo are Kreuziger; who can gain time he loses on climbs in the TT and his climbing can improve (debatable) Basso; has proven himself as a brilliant climber. Scarponi; was best of the rest last year on the majority of climbs. Rujano; Can be the best climber of all.

Where will Rodriguez gain enough time on any of these guys to challenge?

Sorry I was just referring to the fact that I thought you were making an argument for Basso being better than Rodriguez, which I was backing up.
