I was going to point out that it's too early to tell who will win. For Basso, things are going according to plan, but we'll have to wait for the first couple of real mountain stages in the last week to see what he's really got.

Tomorrow should be for a punchy rider.

I think Schleck will find out that the Giro aint the Tour in the last week.

But you have to remember that I'm always right.

What exactly do you mean?

I mean the climbs are steeper and more numerous. Then there often isn't the monster time trial or robotic team to set things straight by the end of week two.

The Tour may be the most prestigious and difficult, but the Giro is harder to interpret, especially for a rider who has always programed his season around the Tour.

I cant look past a Basso vs Scarponi duel for the Maglia Rosa.

On a logical basis I would go for Scarponi but I really believe that Basso is a true GT rider in that his recovery is first class and as the final week and the 2 last MTFs will certainly be decisive I am tempted to consider Basso the overall favorite, after all he does have the pedigree, something no one else in this race has.

"I hope he will not be there," Hinault said at the time, when asked about the Texan’s planned participation in the 2009 Tour. "Is he afraid of France? Nobody forces him to come, he only has to stay at home! He cannot win the Tour. I hope that Contador gives him a beating."
