If I wanted an audience for the sake of vanity, I'd go criticize Lady Gaga somewhere.

Am I trying to utilize the audience here? Sure. Sometimes putting a guy on the spot in front of a crowd is the only way to get him to talk.

JV heard that people were talking about him, and he cared enough about this audience to try to influence it with his presence. Sounds like vanity to me, right?

No. Sounds like damage control...

He's not untouchable but i think a majority of people agree that there is no need for adittional countless threads to be opened.

Your other thread called for him to PM you. Now ive had a bit of a brainwave, and this, granted may seem a bit far out there initially, indeed, I had to think for some time before eventually deciding to post my idea on a public forum. But why, if you want him to pm you and discuss this matter with you, why dont you, and yes, this may seem crazy, oh that silly englishman with his stupid ideas... but why...

DONT YOU TRY PM'ING HIM instead of being a ****er.

And yes, I will probably get a violation for insulting another forum member, but technically, unless hes one of the few men in the world that dont, he is. Besides, it was worth it to get that off of my chest.

Our version is Jeremy Paxman. Hes a ****er as well.
:D

Paxman may ask tough questions but he also goes in with the assumption that he's being lied to, regardless of anything the interviewee says. he'd fit right in round here...

Buckwheat, do you know me, do you know my history, do you know my knowledge? I guess not, so how can you ascertain to what I can and cannot weigh in? Again, high politics have no place on a cycling forum, with the exception of the politics thread in the cafe. SO keep it out of here

And Botany, that post right there by you, does indicate you do it for your own vanity

I know what you have written and, well are you 23, 24?

It's not like JV faces some unique situation that everyone here can't understand.

I'm sorry that people have such delicate sensibilities.

.

I'm going to shut up now so I can communicate with JV to get some of the info he offered.

It would be easier if he just came on here? What's stopping him.

Anyway, please don't invoke some rule or another to block me and make it difficult to get JV's info.

The forum for the truth? You're joking! We are the consumers of Pro Cycling and related products. What better forum to issue a short statement? The truth is an absolute defense, to well, everything!

He can't dial up cycling news and make an honest statement?

Compelled to tell the truth? With advanced interrogation techniques?

I thought Pro cycling was about simply getting to the line first, or riding around a country in the lowest elapsed time.

Re a person's age, experience is required but it doesn't necessarily follow that a person who is older has the requisite experience or has made a proper analysis.

You're overly complicating an exceedingly simple situation.
Wait a second Buck - you cannot have it both ways.

JV contacted you personally by PM - now I dont believe you should publically disclose what was part of that PM - but he asked you if you wanted to better inform yourself to contact a list of people.

I don't see how can continue to request for JV to admit "the truth" when you have not done him the service of checking out his story through the people he mentioned.

Yes, I am 23. But age is of no concern in this subject. Again I warn you, take the politics out of here, keep them in the politics thread, or perhaps it will become difficult for you to access the information given by JV, at least for a short while

One doesn't seek the fame of being a top pro cyclist (at any cost) without suffering a bit from the "bug" of Narcissism.

I would have thought that the fame bit came as a side effect of being really good at riding your bike. Or are the contestants on X-Factor just on there because their VO2max isn't high enough to compete in the Tour?

It's not 'damage control'. You're still trying to reconcile JV coming on here with your take on pro-cycling. If it was damage control why aren't we getting DS's queueing up on here to take their turn in spraying snow in our faces? It's one guy, blowing off some steam about the epic amounts of cr*p that get posted. Stop trying to build it up into a big conspiracy.

That's my point as to JV showing up here. You claimed it was his vanity...

Damage control to his vanity or damage control for the doping issue. Or perhaps both? Perhaps he can best address which.

Quick, start a thread. With a poll. And invite JV1973 to the party.

People are asking me why I care. Why does he care? If he thinks I'm scathing he should learn to read French and pick upa copy of L'Equipe.

Actually - he explained why he came on. He objected to the thread title that called him spineless which the OP said he was for not coming out in defence of the Bio Passport which I showed he had.

Others weighed in with what they thought JV had done (or hadn't done) that they thought was spineless. JV requested those to get the full facts before calling him spineless - and followed that up by PM'ing Buckwheat with info that would show he had done more than Buckwheat had thought -s so it is up to Buckwheat to do so and show whether JV was 'setting the record straight' or engaged in 'damage limitation'.

I started the process. I'd like to hear from Kimmage, Walsh, and WADA/David Howman, or a representative of him.

I have no interest in the Andreu's. They did their thing, and Betsy is occasionally on here is known for speaking her mind. She/they, can do it better than I can. Also they are friends with JV and I have no interest in getting involved in that dynamic, unless I'm invited by the Andreu's which I still would prefer to keep out of because I don't know them.

I'll let you know.

Frankie's got himself one heckuva wife. I can't imagine that the past 6 years have been very easy for them as a couple. Good to leave them alone. I doubt Novitsky will call Frankie to the stand anyway. I think he wants fresh meat to testify.

I complained about this not because I care but because it demonstrates hypocrisy of CN.

Funny how a player in the NFL, or European football would receive an immense fine for this kind of thing

but people here who are always protesting about proper behavior can post this stuff.

Amusing being able to make an obscene gesture and then hiding behind a baby.

I can hack this guy using such sign language against me, but apparently he can't hack civil criticism of his personal anti-doping champion.

It follows my post.

Botanybay can be the recipient of an obscene gesture from Teamskyfan.

Teamskyfan can't handle civil discourse.

What do you think it meant?

so Barrus, where do you stand on the obscene gesture?

Please explain your qualifications for making editorial decisions. I made a criticism about some of the moderators on CN regarding this and you're apparently demonstrating it.

It, in and of itself, is not an obscene gesture. It is a picture of a baby who happened to have his middle finger extended while his others were not.
