What the heck is up with Lance on Twitter posing with the "pain" sign? As in, it's a real pain to have people trying to get all that money he has?

that´s a joke
the pic is taken in France last July
pain means bread in French

Ah, that went right over my head. Stupid me. Thanks for clearing this up.

This quote is from this very thread:

So did he do blood testing or urine? Were riders tested at home or just at team functions? Who carried out the testing? What was ever done with the test results?

According to TD and CVV when Tilford went to see the Denver set up, no. They were not tested in 3 years and my guess is JV pulled TD and CVV in for the PR spin because Tilford took Vaughter's the offer to check out their way of working.

Exactly, which is why the demand for TESTING is pretty pointless. Whether it is Garmin or Froome/Sky or anyone claims 'transparency'. A test can be arranged to prove anything.

All teams need to do to be transparent is release power and blood profiles after races. If a rider suddenly improves, the team should release his training data. Everything else is a sideshow.

Glad we agree that Vaughter's is a liar.

Snakeoil salesman alert!

Jonathan Vaughters ‏@Vaughters Aug 13
@flammecast yeah. I'm over that phase. Im not saying anything with vision, overly optimistic idealism, or consequence for the next decade.

Vision, overly optimistic idealism or consequence..........bet it wont be an end to the lies or more BS.

Knowing JV, i fully expect for him to go back on that promise like he has on pretty much every other promise by next month.

Did he say anything with vision or consequence in the past decade?

And it's typical of Vaughters to call his lies "overly optimistic idealism".

Hopefully the best part of this would be the media ignoring whatever he has to say on the subject of how clean cycling is from now.

But I am not really counting on it.

Poor JV, it is difficult to be a visionary in this cruel, cruel world. It is also hard to be a man of consequence.

Apparently he hasn't been saying anything of any consequence for the PAST decade.

If he's now committed to simply spouting puff and pablum, we'd all be better off if he just kept his mouth shut completely.

I have been continually making this point in this thread, JV is all talk when it comes to anti-doping.

Even the Armstrong saga he was not frontline, but from the bunker( similar to a basement ;) ) issuing commands as how to get Armstrong but ensuring he was not in the firing line.

he didn't even bother to change his twitter slogan. Still dedicating his life to antidoping.
And thinking he's irreplaceable.
"Many good people would suffer"...
I'd argue the opposite, many good people - clean riders - would benefit if he'd step aside.

the shine has long worn off Vaughters.

He'd rather be a big fish in a little pond(pro cycling) than a little fish in a big pond (real business world)...

welcome back. ;)

uran, altitude native, so won't have any problems explaining high passport readings.
rolland, a zero on the 2010 suspicion index, so knows how to ride fast up a hill with an unsuspicious 46 hematocrit.
sounds about right for Garmin.

Uran, altitude native, who has that 'crazy adaptive physiology' and will trip the ol 'machine calibration error' in the 3rd week of a GT.

^Yes, that is for another thread Uran. Big improvements and performances over a few year period, that gets him a big contract as a potential GC grand tour rider with Quickstep...then, all this doping talk/threats/testing...and all of the sudden, as many other riders, becomes a mid packer.

Coincidence? Me thinks not.

What are you talking about? He came 2nd in the Giro with Sky, he came 2nd again with OPQS. He faltered in the GTs this season, but other than that he's been remarkably consistent. This "mid packer" has been top 5 of three WT stage races just this season.

That was prior to Rolland's jump in 2011. Would be interesting to see what he'd rate these days.
