Interesting question - and this goes beyond just the treatment of Froome/Sky but also invites a look into the French presses treatment of the subject of doping in general...

I watch France Televisions for television coverage of the races, and they avoid the subject of doping as much as possible. Thierry Adam, the lead commentator, is a Phil Ligget "light" and sang the praises of Armstrong until the very end. He knows about the doping, but holds the "cycling is clean/cleaner" line. Laurent Jalabert also tip toes around the subject and is totally unbelievable when he makes any comments on doping.

It is really pathetic that after all that has gone on in the last 25 to 30 years, and the legions of riders who have now admitted their doping or it has been proven against them, that the cycling press has retreated like cowards from the one issue that is the scourge of cycling. It is no wonder the culture of doping perpetuates itself, especially under the abysmal leadership of the UCI and a gutless media.

I personnaly think he's been manipulated by the Sky PR machine...

What I don't understand here from this Forum is, if the Sky PR machine is so sound as to manipulate the likes of Geay, ASO and David Walsh, it is also calamitous enough to produce such disarray as Leinders and ZTP.

Could it be that it suits whatever one's own opinion is (on all sides)?

Average haematocrit of Garmin riders?? :p (What's the plus or minus, though. Ha, ha!)

Haven't followed up on this thread, so sorry if it's mentioned. The magic number JV mentions is equal to the number of voters for the president of the UCI.

Hence, JV is not going to release all numbers unless all other teams do. Or something like that.

Thats my interpretation of the evil oracle of 73 anyway.;)

That's only if you count Leinders and ZTP as mistakes rather than just standard sports team practice that they didn't expect to be called on: hiring a facilitating doctor and producing anti doping rhetoric.

Nah, not possible, the members of the clininc are too objective to let themselves be swayed by personal bias.:p

Thing is with Sky is who is playing who as sky have spin doctors or media staff who think they are, but perhaps these journalists are siting back listing to this and this. Good for them as if falls to **** well we have exclusive interviews and this no names of course but actually what been seeing all along.

I think the answer 42 is a reference to A Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

The characters are searching for "The answer to life and everything" and the answer is ......... 42.

It's a written forum, cues that signal a joke are not available. Sometimes one has to explain to all the slow people. Like me for example.;)

Duh, of course he said BS back then. That's entirely consistent with his own narrative, so pointing it out doesn't accomplish anything.

I forgot, did he say why he lied about 80-85%?

who knows. and who knows jv's doping history.

i dont see it as the open book most extend to him. more obfuscation than transparency imo.

relative to cycling operators and admin, jv's transparency is nigh immaculate.

There are few who have laid bare the true extent of their doping and products taken. Manzano being the rider who comes to mind of having laid bare all the PEDS.

Jonathan Vaughters ‏@Vaughters 55 m

Last year I just didn't feel it for the Tour. Something was off with our team. This year? Mojo is there.
Translation, we have figured out how to lose weight without losing power?

Pretty much, although it failed at Il Giro badly.

Lets see how skinny Garmin are at the TdF compared to others.

No, nothing of the sort.

Dan's win in Catalonia and LBL, Talansky doing well in the Vuelta, P-N and ending the Dauphine well, Dennis wearing the leader's jersey there, Navardauskas's stage win in the Giro, plus the experience of Millar, Danielson and Vandevelde to go with it. More than anything he will be hoping Hesjedal can get back to something like his Giro form of last year.

Overall a well balanced team and one I expect to do well. This is what he is clearly referring to. The team is coming in to the race in good shape.

nah, i suspected hesjedal had his build up for july, so it was a false indicator. he had not gone backwards from 2012 cos he lost weight, and more power than he calculated, but he was holding his form back to peak for the tour.
