Apparently there's a race called the Tour of Mesopotamia.
Aren't races usually named after current countries/regions?

But I'm looking forward to the Tour of the Holy Roman Empire.

Mesopotamia is, if I'm not mistaken, old Greek for "Land between the rivers", sometimes also named as "Land of two rivers" referring to Tigris and Euphrates. As far as I know the term is still used to describe the geographical region along the rivers reaching from the Persian Golf to southern Turkey. It never really was the name of a political structure.
