great win for silvestre, how exactly did he get his ime back if he didn't even finish the stage inside the top 10?

This stage finished in a group sprint. Yesterday he was third in the GC after stage 2b, three seconds behind Craddock. Today he gained four seconds in the intermediate sprints.

So happy about Nacer.
Coquard has been impressive so far as a neo pro.

We're a couple of days into the Tour du Maroc now, but the GC has already been torn to shreds. The first stage was a fairly flat trek towards the north, but the second was up and down all day on a hilly coastal route and the result was utter carnage.

Stage 1: Rabat - Larache, 177kms
1 Essaïd Abelouache (Morocco National Team) 4'15'54
2 Matej Jurco (Slovakia National Team) +st
3 Nabil Baz (Velo Club Sovac d'Algérie) +7"
4 Soufiane Haddi (Morocco National Team) +1'53"
5 Daniele Aldegheri (Christina Watches-Onfone) +st
6 Michael Kolar (Slovakia National Team) +st
7 Salahedine Mraouni (Regional Vélodrome Maroc) +st
8 Eryk Laton (BDC-Marcpol) +st
9 Sébastien Jullien (CMI-Greenover) +st
10 Joris de Boer (Ruiter Dakkapellen Wielerteam) +st

Stage 2: Oued Laou - Al Hoceima, 181km
1 Matthieu Perget (CMI-Greenover) 5'26'58
2 Maros Kovac (Slovakia National Team) +7'03"
3 Andrey Mizourov (Torku Seker Spor) +st
4 Sébastien Balck (Christina Watches-Onfone) +10'54
5 Eloy Ruíz Pinto (Andalucia) +12'30
6 Frederik Wilmann (Christina Watches-Onfone) +13'58
7 Adil Jelloul (Morocco National Team) +15'45
8 Martin Mahdar (Slovakia National Team) +15'53"
9 Anass Ait El Abdia (Morocco National Team) +st
10 Daniele Aldegheri (Christina Watches-Onfone) +st

Only 20 riders made it in inside half an hour, the autobus came in at 40 minutes, and the last group arrived some 51 minutes behind Perget, who at 28 still has plenty left in the tank and has spent the last few years in the World Tour for Caisse d'Epargne and Ag2r. The huge timegaps should make it fairly easy for CMI to allow non-threatening breaks to go for much of the rest of the race!

Stage 3: Nador - Oujda, 181kms
1 Morten Høberg Nielsen (Christina Watches-Onfone) 4'03'39"
2 Essaïd Abelouache (Morocco National Team) +st
3 Martin Mahdar (Slovakia National Team) +st
4 Damian Walczak (BDC-Marcpol) +st
5 Antonio Jesús Cabello Baena (Andalucia) +st
6 Lahcen Saber (Regional Vélodrome Maroc) +st
7 Robert Orr (Metaltek-Knights of Old) +st
8 Ismaïl Ayoune (Morocco National Team) +5"
9 Kacper Gronkiewicz (BDC-Marcpol) +57"
10 Daniele Aldegheri (Christina Watches-Onfone) +st

Wow he was nowhere last year (I think due to injury) and this year he kicks a$$! A couple more results like this and he will be picked up by a big team I hope!

Judging by his results and the fact that he is born in 1994 he seems like a huge talent ... does anyone know more about him?

1. Ruderig Selig

Happy for him! Didn't have much luck since going to Katusha I think but he seems to have a natural instinct for these types of races

The last couple of years, we've managed to get some short abstracts from Moroccan TV, but not enough to really figure out what happened.

Today's stage was annulled due to bad weather, so I wonder if that came into it on Saturday's stage as well.

Reaction from Herklotz: "Before the last climb I was around fifth position, that climb was 2km with 14%!!! When we went downhill I attacked alone, it was a hard and technical descent. The last 4km of the race were flat so the other two pursuers worked together and we had a sprint with 3. They just beat me and my result was a 2nd place."

He ended the race bleeding on his face and leg.

Stage 5 in Morocco, from Fes to Meknes (120km). Short day today, another win for Abelouache, however still many minutes behind Perget after that brutal 2nd stage. Rewards for consistency for Aldegheri too - 3 times he's been 10th in 4 stages!
