is there some big participation bonus??
why on earth let them start..!?..

Valverde and Martin are their team’s biggest names, former winners, perpetually on the favourites list. It’s not surprising that their teams want them to ride one of their big season goals. That said though, it really should have been obvious that it was a bad idea. Clearly neither was going to be remotely competitive

This could very well be an epic edition with this kind of weather.

At least better than anything we have seen in a decade.

First big selection. Anybody missing?
There's a leading group with Gilbert, Mas, Clarke, Kangert, Nibali, A. Nibali, Caruso, Albasini, Impey, De la Cruz, Freile, G. Izagirre, Anacona, Verona, Henao, Pogadcar, Schachmann, Zakarin, De Plus, De Marchi and Van Avermaet. Bunch is 25 seconds behind. Missing are Vanendert and Wellens I think. Bardet had a bike change.

This is already a much more active LBL than previous years, not just because of the course change, but also because of the weather and DQSt's action. Gilbert would really like to get away before La Redoute. A long escape is probably his only chance, otherwise Alaphilippe will be the leader.

Lambrecht is in that new leading group. Albasini, De la Cruz, Verona, De Marchi, Anacona, Kangert, Fraile.
Did DQS burn too many matches too early? You’d expect them to at least have Serry follow this move.
