I heard the same thing about Bahrain as well. Some people thought the rift was between him and Landa and in the Move (Movida) they said that the rift was with somebody else in Movistar. But anyway, just another rumor. I really doubt it. I think it has to come from a team that really needs it. More like a Pro-continental that is not registered in the Clean cycling movement.

I simply wonder if Quintana isn't simply pricing himself out with wage demands when he was only released after most teams had already filled all their slots. I feel a lot of teams could be after him even if only for a Giro leadership with the B-team.

But that's not the kind of team he wants. He wants the big races, so either a WT outfit or one with access to WT invites and WT invites mean pleasing ASO and ASO is best pleased by being an MPCC team.

Is it salary demands or is it leadership demands? All his pronouncements - which I know are not to be trusted - do have him presenting himself as still a contender, not someone looking to just break wind and pass water for someone else.

damn it! I'm late to the party o_O
got really excited when I heard the rumor, but It appears to be just ... that?
so when @Dnlbenson tweeted It's not happening, does it mean is not happening as in the current year until the transfer season takes place with a new budget structured ... or Is not happening "until" it can be properly announced after Le Tour..? :weary:

Nairo doesn‘t really race anymore, it seems.

Miguel Angel Lopez immediately can join a WT team form wise, but Nairo would struggle. MAL maintained his spirit, but Nairo seems to be too disappointed at the moment.

I hope they both will be able to ride Vuelta a Espana in autumn…
It’s hard to say about Quintana since he’s only raced once and finished third and better than MAL. Both can still ride at WT level though.

on MAL's case, you're overestimating who is he racing against, which he made quite evident during the Vuleta a Colombia where he literally trashed everyone while "soft peddling".
Overall both MAL and Nairo remain Elite despite not being currently integrated within the Pro-rankings, since they're training & acting as such, despite not being there... yet!
remember Valverde?

Time will tell, but I hope & prey they get a second chance to prove the doubters wrong.

Rigo get's an 800 episode telenovela, Nairo is giving us top-notch theatre: Waiting for Nairo

Act I - The Eve of the Giro

- He didn't say for sure he'd come.
- And if he doesn't come?
- We'll come back tomorrow.
- And then the day after tomorrow.
- Possibly.
- And so on.
- The point is...
- Until he comes.
- You're merciless.
- We came here yesterday.
- Ah no, there you're mistaken.

Act II - The Eve of the Tour
- He didn't say for sure he'd come.
- And if he doesn't come?
- We'll come back tomorrow.
- And then the day after tomorrow.
- Possibly.
- And so on.
- The point is...

- We came here yesterday.
- Ah no, there you're mistaken.

In fact, Arkea‘s TdF of 2023 was a nightmare.

The team, without Quintana, was completely invisible. No success, no chance at all.

Barguil became slower, and Champoussin‘s development didn‘t go as hoped, yet.

Champs Elysees 2022 was great, with Nairo in 6th rank in GC. In 2023, they certainly are happy that the Tour is over.

The team was about Nairo. They had huge plans, extended for three more years. Now that Nairo has gone, the team doesn‘t hsve success any more, and will have problems to stay WT team.

What a waste, what a disgrace. A rider, a team, many employees and their families got damaged and destroyed by one decision: to eliminate Nairo Quintana, to ban him for a doping offense - although he did not (!) even take a banned PED.

He did take a banned substance.
