Elite:
1. Ben Gastauer (ALM)
U23:
1. Bob Jungels (LET)
Gastauer had just to finish the race as he was the only start in his category. Jungels was well ahead of him at the finish.![]()
Bye Bye Bicycle said:Of course it was just one race with all the different categories in it. However no other Elite pro rider older than 23 apart from Gastauer showed up today.

1. Reidar Borgersen (Joker Merida) 1.01,55
2. Edvald Boasson Hagen (Team Sky) +11
3. Lars Petter Nordhaug (Tønsberg CK) +42
4. Lorents Ola Aasvold (Plussbank BMC) +1,55
5. Truls Engen Korsæth (Lillehammer CK) +2,17
6. Andreas Landa (OneCo-Mesterhus Cycling Team) +2,51
7. Bjørn Tore Nilsen Hoem (Plussbank BMC) +2,54
8. Alexander Randin (Ringeriks-Kraft Look)
9. Kjetil Johansen Amundrud (Oslostudentenes IK Sykkel) +3,03
10. Max Emil Kørner (Ringeriks-Kraft Look) +3,06
Compare to last year:
1 Edvald Boasson Hagen (Lillehammer CK/Team Sky) 1.03.06
2 Reidar Borgersen (Modum CK/Joker Merida) +2.01
3 Lorents Ola Aasvold (CK Nor/Plussbank Cervélo) +4.06
4 Vegard Stake Laengen (Asker CK/Joker Merida) +4.12
5 Stian Saugstad (Ringeriks-Kraft) +5.25
6 Geir Inge Berg (Sandnes SK) +5.47
7 Mikael Schou (Ringeriks-Kraft) +6.31
8 Andreas Landa (IF Frøy) +6.32
9 Vegard Breen (Joker Merida) +6.45
10 Max Emil Kørner (IF Frøy) +7.01
As you can see, Borgersen's gap to the other cyclist's has remained the same, so I don't think the explanation is that he did a great ride. The big difference is that Edvald seemingly has become 2 minutes slower (relatively, of course). It seems as if his form has completely vanished since the Dauphine. Or perhaps he was just feeling like crap since he just returned from altitude.

Can't Northern Irish competitors choose whether to compete for GB or Ireland in a lot of sports?

He didn't participate in the national championship. He's currently in Italy preparing for the Olympics.
I assume you're confusing Nordhaug with Northug. Nordhaug has been riding for Sky for 2 years now and has had a great season, with results such as 1st Trofea Deia, 4th Criterium International, 6th Vuelta al Pais Vasco, 3rd Tour of Norway...Might as well note the name already, because he's certainly a better athlete than this overrated Northug guyNey the Viking said:Is the Lars Nordhaug in 3rd THE Nordhaug? will10 said:Last year Hutch switched his nationality to Ireland in preparation for a potential Olympic TT slot (unfortunately the selection was made before he won the Irish Nats). He rode both Irish (where he finished 3rd and was eligible for his bronze medal), and British Nationals (where he was also 3rd but no medal as ineligible so his bronze went to Bottrill).
