The references in your post were a bit unclear to me as to who you were referring to - my apologies. I agree with the rest of your post, but since this thread is hardly discussing socio-political phenomena, I believe Godwin's Law does apply to Velodude's post.

On that point we can agree to disagree.

I will say, however, that the reference he made has been made several times before and I think it has at least some merit. If you're talking about propaganda, group-think, and cult of personality, the guy he mentioned really did set the rules for how most spin-meisters play the game today, over 70 years later.

"Dammit Fab, I need to be on a magazine cover! FFS, how long has it been now?"
"Well Lance, Details says they'll pimp you as 'America's New Playboy' right under the headline 'Is your girlfriend plotting to get pregnant behind your back?' You can brag about the Olsens, talk up hookers & blow. It'll be great for your image right now."
"Say no more, Fab. Make the call - now!"

Actually, that would be in very bad taste if that was a current edition instead of one from 5 years ago.

Don't blame me. It's the accompanying image from a cited article today.

But which one of those roles was he not attempting to play then, as now?

Bette Davis with Joan Crawford as Frankie's wife, Betsy.
This would be if Lance himself were doing the casting. Joan the villainous female...
:)

I might cast Katherine Hepburn as Betsy! *****.....independent...

Well that's a shame...really lowers the humor value. I'd laugh louder about really poor taste at the current time. :D

Then again, if "Playboy" implies hookers and blow, there's no difference between 5 years ago and 5 days ago. :D

troll babble

1/2 of Boulder knows Tyler broke down the first few times he talked, because he told people. I wrote about it here a year ago.....and nobody anywhere close to the investigation told me. Smart move on his part to tell everyone he was useless and was no help to the investigation, keeps Lance off his back for a while.

Now Polish, do give us an example of a leak. So far you are 0-1

okay Godwin's law is famous for a reason.

Lets immediately drop the Nazi /WWII references in this thread, thanks. Attempts to tie LA and the events that surround him to some comparison with the Nazi regime will be considered to be trolling.

History shows these cases are full of leaks, it would be unique if this case was air tight. The French, Italians and Novitzky are involved and their past suggests it has leaks.

Pity about the turned eye. Otherwise I reckon I'd root Lance. He's looks a little bit like a mutant.

And now, a month on from when the motion was launched, we can appreciate the brilliance of SuperLawyer Keker's strategy.

Not only are the smears quelled, but the attention is now on the naughtiness of the leaks.

Sure, the indictments will come eventually.
But fairly. No more smearing.
Fair fight. Should be epic grrrrr.

Share with us a past leak that Novitzky was involved in....or did you just invent this?

History has show that guilty defendants like to create a smoke screen

And past of Armstrong proves that he is a liar, a doper and has bendet laws many times. Should we put him in jail directly?

I was merely pointing out that there was nearly a quater of the twentieth century affected by the german Nazi party, and that every single reference in an online discussion that peripherally references that socio-political phenomenon can't be dismissed as "Godwin's Law".

Maybe that subtlety was lost on you. That, and the fact that I was referring to Goebbels writing the book, not Armstrong (though the two are likely confused in many circles).

If every reference to prominent early twentieth century germans will prompt an invocation of Godwin's Law, let's stop talking about NASA since Wernher von Braun was a party member and developed the U2 rocket for Hitler.

Try looking beyond "Ooo, he said Nazi" and appreciate that there will be times when the most appropriate reference or authority on a subject just happens to be a less-than-desireable person. We do it all the time with Ferrari.

In fact, Godwin's law should have it's own law because it derails just as many threads.

V2, please. :D
Vergeltungswaffe 2 - weapon of revenge 2

I doubt that Bono and the Edge have something to do with Nazis.

I am still busy deciphering the babble-code.
Each post responded by RR includes the babble-code. It seems to be the big insider code.
Can you teach me the babblecode, JRTinMA ? How long did it take ?
It's harder to decode than the Enigma code. Is this Godwin, too ?

Do you have any facts to support a linkage between your alleged silence of the smears and the Keker motion? I thought not. :D

I'll bet Polish a one way ticket to Krakow for him and no computer access for a year that Hincapie also talked to friends, who talked to friends, who talked to friends, who talked to CBS.

More sound and fury from Armstrong's camp. And do they think they would learn anything of substance about the investigation from a redacted version of the filing? Unlikely. In any event, they are protesting against what is a standard filing process in cases where a target is alleging illegal leaks. They'll just have to trust the judge to judge their motion on the merits.

Fabiani and Polish (comrades in arms?) are correct that it's been very quiet of late. Note to Polish and Fabiani, this is probably the lull before the Tornado hits. Enjoy it if you can. It's nearly Showtime.

Lance will likely be remembered as the milli vanilli of cycling.

Armstrong's team has no interest in anyone stemming the leaks, nor about the leaks themselves.

They're desperate for disclosure is so they can pillory any and all suspected leak sources. Obviously, the response is sealed because it will contain a list of all witnesses who have testified, and all persons within the prosecution who may have worked on the file.

Of course, the only reason to get the names of the persons in the AUSA's office is so you can try them publicly and attempt to smear the reputation of the attorneys and investigators. Hmmmmm....
