Gotta hand it to the groupies, they are good at shifting the goalposts

For years we heard "Never tested positive" then we found out he had tested positive multiple times. Now the rant is "never sanctioned"

Since the investigation was announced they have ignored the fact the Federal investigations often take years and pretend because there have not yet been charges that Armstrong has nothing to worry about.....ignoring that he has spent $3,200,000 on legal fees for a case "going nowhere"

They held on to the "creditably" mantra for a few months.....until they found out it was not just Floyd.....but also Tyler, George, and many others.

When the charges are filed they will ignore reality and change the chant to "innocent until proven guilty"

What will the babble be when he is in jail? "He is in a country club jail so he is not really in jail" or "he has not become some big guy's boyfriend yet so he is not really in jail"

Maybe Lance will turn on all his co-conspirators. Cogitate on this possible deal.
In return for information and testimony in line with his proffer:
He pleads guilty to a single felony count;
Receives a 5 year suspended sentence and 5 years of probation;
Admits to doping from years 1995 through 2009;
Agrees to forfeit his seven TdF wins and agrees to so advise The Tour and UCI;
Apologies to the cancer community, all his former teammates who he slandered in specified ads placed in major newspapers and magazines nationally and internationally;
Makes complete restitution to SCA, Walsh, Ballestier and the Brit. newspaper that settled with him;
Agrees to have nothing to do with professional cycling for ten years;
Will not marry any more Mom look a likes, ever.

Like that's going to happen. I hope he does turn on Weasel and co. It would be hilarious to see him torn apart during cross examination. The lawyers would have a field day.

More innuendo. And name calling. And allusions to prison rape. And the same old pitch: Armstrong is being investigated (for something), so he must be guilty (of something).

A key part of Marion Jones Plea deal was giving up her medals. Giving up his Tour wins, at least 2005, could be part of Lance's

Armstrong on XTERRA
The 7-time Tour de France champion is back where he started. Triathlon. Well, almost back where he started. Now it's off-road triathlon for him. After debuting in this iteration of triathlon with a 5th place finish at XTERRA Nationals in Ogden, Utah last month, he's expected to queue up to the start in Maui this weekend for XTERRA Worlds.

Because Lance is not coming to swimming and running late in life—as was the case with Udo Bolts, Laurent Jalabert and other retired cycling standouts who moved to triathlon—he's not thinking age-group or survival. He's been in a tear in the pool, swimming sets with the likes of former pro triathlete and standout swimmer Rip Esselstyn, as he reengages with his root sport.

I bet the WTC refused to pay an appearance fee but the XTERRA organizers did pay.

Of course EXTERRA paid. The sales pitch is simple.

"Remember that little race called Leadville? I raced it a couple times now it is on every groupies bucket list. The guys that owned it for decades flipped it to lifetime fitness for millions"

Groupies running out to get MTN bikes.....I wonder if they will also get handcuffs?

I got my Lifetime membership back when they bought the race.

Went out today and bought an official Team PorkSkins MTN bike al painted up with the official PorkSkins logos etc. I am going to take a 100meter swim this evening. I got to get in shape for these offroad tri's.

Don't forget about the most important thing on LA's mind right now.......bike safety.

The best part about psychopaths like LA is that in time, and it does take time to catch up to their unconscionable actions, they take care of themselves. We are presently moving along the continuum towards his demise, and the improvement of a beautiful sport.

The Lancestrokers can laugh all they want right now, but dig a deep fox hole girls 'cause it won't be pretty from here on in. Whether that's this week or in the spring it won't matter to me.

Sometimes it seems like people take this stuff way to serious. :eek:They have no need to dig a deep fox hole because it is not war, just a cycling message board.:rolleyes: I am not sure anyone is tied into the LA family around here so it will not or should not affect anyone.:cool:

Glenn...really!

"a fox hole" is a metaphor, sorry I'll use something more PC next time.

And as to the seriousness of this issue, I consider an FBI investigation serious. But, maybe you laugh in the face of G men every day!

Thanks for the link, Krebs.

"Coming back to the Tour was a lot of pressure. Even if I tried to ignore it, it was there in spades. That inevitably leads to having less fun. And I came back to a sport that had become bitter and toxic in a sense. Everyone pointing fingers and trying to cover their rears all at the same time. It was a total free-for-all, and the cycling media—if we can call them media—just fed on the fuel. I'm glad it's behind me."

Bitter and toxic? I thought cycling welcomed him back with open arms and open wallets?

Everyone pointing fingers and trying to cover their rears? Not everyone, surely? Just embittered, toxic former teammates.

The cycling media? He's not including this site in that generalisation, is he?

You see the French had to go and spoil it by being nice so it was everyone else this time. Then you get former team-mates putting facts in the story. Why couldn't we all just keep believing the myth - everyone would have been happy wouldn't they? Why let truth get in the way of a good story.

Now you cycling hack journalist why don't you take this press release and write it up. And don't even think of doing you're own research. Just write like we did.

There will be some Lance news next week. Monday/Tuesday - maybe over the weekend.

Well, in addition to being totally incompetent about a number of things, I guess I'm incompetent about finding recent news on this Interwebs thing. Tried that Google news thingy, some other news aggregators, TMZ, E!Online (someone you have quoted before). Could not find anything.

I did find an interesting interview with Charlie Watts. In the interview he did not discuss PEDs, his (super secret) testimony before the Grand Jury, nor did he speculate on perp walks, cuffs, bail, etc.

However, he did expound for a long time on drumrolls. Charlie says that an attention getting drumroll is usually with the snare, but if you really want to get everyone's attention, a drumroll with the Tom Toms and a few kicks on the bass drum is the way to go.

He also mentioned a drumroll that is a bit sneaky - a bit of Morse code tapped out only on the cymbals.

I am starting to doubt your musical ability, especially as it pertains to percussion.

In case I missed anything from the Interweb news, I apologise. Please post links if you have them.

No handbags here. As a matter of fact, I am the assistant vice co-chairperson in charge of miscellaneous protests against Macys. They sell more handbags than any other store in the US, thus they deserve to be occupied.

Oh - maybe you can fill us in on the Big News. No one else wants to talk about it.

Did you set a reminder on your new iPhone 4s to remind you to come on here? Patience my friend. You seem more intent on proving me wrong than following the truth. Disappointing. You shows your true colours today. Sad. I actually thought you were one of the more intelligent fanboys.

For record its coming... just not today... not long.

Aw gee 'a sport that became bitter and toxic'. Now who can you think of with the initials 'LA' that might have contributed in a big way to this downslide?
What an ***!

not much 'fun' when your'e not hammering the competition eh?

Proving you wrong takes no effort on my part.

As with many other clinic regulars, you mistake my criticism of posts - you think it is support for LA. In most cases, it is criticism of people who who either have a proven track record of making things up or posters who declare facts with no supporting data/links.

"....not long" - this is getting to be the most pathetic phrase in your posts. I am shocked (shocked, I tell you) that someone with all your insider knowledge can say "not long" for almost a year and a half and be consistently off.

Will indictments happen? Most think it is inevitable; I will not argue with that. When? My guess is as good as yours, but I do not post specific days as to what my wild guesses will be.

Another major concern is that the forum calendar now has September 5th, October 18th (today), and possibly other dates where there are celebrations of non-events based on one posters "super secret insider knowledge" proven bogus. You keep this up and in a few years the forum will be nothing but anniversary celebrations, This will have a major impact on the forums that is unnecessary.

Thank goodness for the triathlon media! I think we can call them media which is why Mr Armstrong agreed to let them interview him. I thought that it was a very brief interview - only three questions - but Mr Armstrong is a very busy man with 5 kids, business ventures to run, a foundation to lead, etc.

Triathlon has warmly welcomed back Mr Armstrong into its fold after a 20 year absence trying to make a decent living in the bitter, toxic sport of cycling. This article mentions Mr A in passing:

http://www.slowtwitch.com/News/Lebrun_McQuaid_win_XTERRA_Nationals__2347.html

While this article mentions the potentially huge impact Mr Armstrong would bring to the minor sport of Ironman should he agree to compete at Kona:

http://www.slowtwitch.com/News/Lebrun_McQuaid_win_XTERRA_Nationals__2347.html

According to the article, thousands of people came to watch the Xterra, cheer for Lance and wave his placards. Proof to all the doubters that Mr Armstrong is still very very very very popular.

All in all, stand out pieces of journalism from the real media in the sport of triathlon. David Walsh and Paul Kimmage could learn a thing or two from the balanced reporting of Timothy Carlson.

I'm thinking that we can set up a PayPal contribution widget to have Charlie Watts give TheHog percussion lessons. May cost well over 10K euros, but may be worth it.

Another aside - WTF is up with the iPhone reference? In my retirement home we have real paper calendars and pencils (well, crayons for some of us) and don't need no fancy electronical stuff to remind us what to do when. Except for when the staff has to remind us about certain things having to do with bodily functions - I do appreciate those reminders.

Reading between the lines are you excusing yourself for your unwavering idol fixation to advancing years? :)
