And those age groupers have jobs, so they cannot train full time like The Lance.

There are a lot of disappointed Slowtwitchers today.

To be fair to the guy he appears to have crashed at the end of the mountainbike section - he might need some new batteries for his lazer like focus.

Top 15 in the World. Championship. Pro's.
That is awesome of course.

How would Alberto or Bradley or Cadel have done?
They would not even have qualified.

This is not swimming with dolphins.
Porpoises sorry.

How would Alberto do at 40?
Alberto will be getting winded doing "Dancing with the Stars" at that age.
Or getting dropped by gran fondo club riders on climbs.

Handbaggers ouch ouch stop it please.

Look at the list of world class "Athletes" !

The guy goes from a top Pro to the 2nd tier of a 4th tier sport in less then a year.

He must have something on his mind, kinda distracted these days

Funny you bring up Cadel. You do know about his previous MTB championships right? 4 Australian and 1 gold, 2 silver, 1 bronze worlds MTB champs.

You do know about his ITT prowess right? You do know he's from Darwin...ever tried to outrun and outswim a Croc matey boy?

F&F, suggest your read Mens Health issue published in December 2008 which details his work outs for his 2008 comeback. Within 4-5 years and definitely full time.

For this comeback he promoted:

"I have decided to return to professional cycling in order to raise awareness of the global cancer burden", Armstrong said on his livestrong.org website. VeloNews reported that Armstrong would race for no salary or bonuses and would post his internally tested blood results online."

LA has a short attention span. Pocketed the Tour Down Under fees and abandoned his posting of his blood results on line.

Oh I forgot, Lance is a laid-back kinda guy that doesn't bother to pursue whatever he does meticulously to the nth degree...
just hangs on the couch and lets the world drift by...

maybe ask Polish about Lance's laser-like focus

Lance is probably just taking in some extra Gatorade. At 40 with an ever growing family and out of sport activity he is probably still kickin it to his 2008 Men's Health detailed regime. All those photos of Hardstrong were probably just one offs no lighting or multi takes. He is working out so hard all the time that all you have to do is point a camera in his direction to capture his dedication.

All that out to eat,wee hours at NYC nightclubs, drinking beer and listening to music in Austin, midday coffee and pancakes in Aspen and all the promotional travel is done with photoshop and body doubles.
People typed in here that Lance not going to Steve Jobs funeral was some kind of an insult to Armstrong , then you know things are getting really low.
Surprised that he was not slammed that he raced age grade rather than assume pro status in anything and everything he does from now on.
I personally think he should keep his non pro status in lots of things, starting with marriage

History may compare him with Shaun Kemp, although that could be an insult to Kemp who played his game well and within his natural ability.

What a load of lame excuses, surely you jest? That may be the largest collection of dribble I have ever read. Just let some things go man.

Whenever I think of Moriarty it is in terms of 40k because as I said that's the only event I ever rode there. An unfortunate slip. I guess I have to join USACycling again and reactivate my license as their site is now for members only. I gladly accept cash contributions.;)

What this slip shows is the pitfall of using vague memories to represent "fact", even if corrected afterward.

FWIW, does it really matter either way if LA set any record as a junior in NM ? I knew someone in college who had first-hand experience working with LA when he was young (sometime prior to Oslo) and it was never in question, according to him, that LA had talent. It proves nothing about doping or lack thereof.

You do bring up an interesting question, though, which seems to have been lost or burried: who first introduced LA to doping at that young age. Are they still involved in the game? Was it Polish? We may never know ....

Yes, it does. It would give credence to the myth that there was Grand Tour winning potential. The appearance of a team-wide advanced doping is a reasonable conclusion.

As for whether he had talent or not, that's relative. Talented in a pool of U.S. riders? Sure. Talented in a Worldwide pool of clean riders? Maybe one-day events, but not Grand Tour class.

We know with a great deal of confidence. Carmichael and Wenzel were doping under-23's with who knows what during Armstron'g's time on the team. There were lawsuits about it and Carmichael bought his way out every one of them. A good assembly of damning facts is here: http://bikezilla.blogspot.com/2011/05/chris-carmichael-ignored-lance.html

I find it irksome that Wonderboy's past is treated so vaguely and Carmichael isn't drawn into this mess more deeply.
