Truth and humour

"The case has since moved on from that point, with more agencies becoming involved. These include the Federal Bureau of Investigation , the U.S. Postal Service’s Office of Inspector General, plus both the civil and criminal divisions of the Department of Justice."

I presume the IRS is part of the Department of Justice.

http://www.velonation.com/News/ID/8...Service-investigation-continuing-onwards.aspx

A very good article by Velonation.

And to finish post with some humour:

"No one trains like me. No one rides like me"
http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Lance_Armstrong

"Everybody wants to know what I'm on. What am I on? I'm on my bike busting my *** six hours a day."
http://www.slate.com/id/2121809/

Most on the forum know what MiracleBoy was on. Just waiting for Novi to officially reveal the details to the general public.

Have you guys seen / talked about this yet?

http://bikezilla.wordpress.com/2011/04/21/lance-armstrong-interviewed-by-evan-smith-on-triblive/

Check out the interviewer here. Prostitution must pay well in Texas.

I liked Lance's closing line: "I think people understand that this is a complex disease and it's going to take some time."

Wait, what was that? "I think people understand that this is a complex disease and it's going to take some time."

In the context of the interview, it's clear Lance is implying here that his foundation (and, by extension, him) is working on a cure for cancer. And he is pleading for time to get it done. OMG. BTW, IMO Bikezilla's reading of this interview is dead on.

This also from the full transcript:

Also, AFTER that first improperly released positive, which does not count if you have a TUE, he never again tested positive. So he did truly save his life and then won six more Tours de France. But it may not be that simple… why did he get testicular cancer in the first place at that young age… that’s also a symptom of steroid abuse.

Again, the origin of the cancer is questioned. The attribution of Gunderson's cancer to steriod abuse is getting some serious attention now.

1) Abuse PEDs and become a successful athlete;
2) Give yourself/Cause unchecked growth of cancer through PED abuse;
3) Launch an amazing post-cancer comeback, abusing the same pharmaceuticals that assisted you through cancer treatment;
4) Profit!

I see no reason not to dope.

Irony and More

According to this, http://www.texastribune.org/texas-h...liveblog-a-conversation-with-lance-armstrong/, he is claimed to have made the statement,

"When you are jeopardizing the life and health of other people around you, you lose your rights."

Indeed.

But, he showed his hand a bit with this line,

I think there's also a place for big pharma and private business.

The guy already repped big pharma, but I think this is bigger and gets back to the whole murky .com/.org discussion.

Gilbert is a phenomenal talent. Personally, I think he has a preparatore, but his talent is absolutely undeniable. Moreover, he understands racing tactics.

You insult the original poster, but then essentially say he is correct?!?!?!

I'll let my comment and yours stand for the other board posters to decide which one makes more sense.

Interesting response. After posting all insults, rather then respond to the logical response to your one on topic comment you seem to hide behind your forum buddies.

It's not a 91 hour ITT. Have you heard of drafting.

Yes, but when it comes to doping you can't simply pick and choose which moment the dope has the 1% affect.

Let's say in that 91 hours Contador spent 3 hours "racing" (which includes over an hour of ITT, so I'd say three hours is conservative), you are still talking about the difference between winning and finishing third when talk about 1%. Enough to not be very simple to overcome.

OK, I thought you were actually posting serious comments. I guess that was my fault. You subsequent posts put things in a more clear light. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

It's interesting to see how many people on here decide to make comments about the poster and not try to discuss the topic when things don't go there way. I am guessing you had no intention on having a discussion anyway.

The original poster states incorrectly that Philippe Gilbert is a sudden phenomenon, which has been proven to be false.

Additionally, when the OP says "We all wish we were wrong but we do know better" when referencing Gilbert, where is the proof that he has an amazing array of pharmaceutical products helping propel him faster than all comers? That smacks of "guilty by association until proven innocent".

Yet Moose made no mention of him not being a sudden phenom, he simply said he believes he dopes and that Gilbert raced a smart race (sorry I don't have the exact quote, but after seeing that he is Mr. Anonymous Internet Tough Guy I put him on ignore), which agrees with most of what the OP said.

When it comes to the second part I agree completely, but you should be going after Moose as well as the OP, not me.

Maybe Charles Pelkey was a former fanboy and has finally faced reality!
.

Charles:
"The Italian sports daily La Gazzetta dello Sport reported..."
"La Gazzetta’s Luca Gialanella reported..."
"Thursday’s report in Gazzetta notes that..."

LA:
"You're clueless"

Boy, did LA ever show him who's clueless. Too bad we didn't get a Fabiani quote instead of a LATweet...at least Mark's missives are entertaining!

Back in the late 1990s through around 2005, I had many email conversations with Charles. He was never a fanboy of Armstrong. He was aware of a good deal that could not be proven and thus could not be printed. IIRC, he told me of the rumor circulating at the time of Operation Puerto that Postal had nothing to fear as they used a blood operation in Valencia. Reality is finally busting out all over--just like Spring.

I've known dear Chuck Pelkey (he'll hate me for that :D) for about 20 years. He's one of the very few cycling scribes who could be described at "clueful." Very clueful. Yeah, he's very cautious about what goes into print...you don't stay on the same job for two decades by going off half-cocked...but know that this guy has heard all the dirt and has had plenty of riders, trainers and insiders tell him plenty of "off the record" data.
