1. Hushovd- he has been suffering from illness and bad form latly. But the recent years he have done bad in Flandern and come back and do well in P-R, I think he will be back on track for this race. He finally gets his win.
2.Haussler- He is a dark horse, on a strong team. He will beat Fleach in the sprint for second place.
3.Flecha- Will be Skys best bet. Boasson Hagen does not got what it takes to survive the distance. Next year though Hagen will be in the fight for the win.
4. Tjallingii- He will be a surviver from an early break away and do well in the final.
5.Ballan is marking the moves from the others, when Hushovd make the final move and will be last in the sprint of the survivors of the final group.

Pozzato will be out of the final due to a flat tire in the final 30 km.
Boonen will go down on Arenberg breaking is collarbone.

wow id like to be your bookmaker. On current form if you put that lot together Ballan would do a spartacus and ride away from the rest

The podium riders from Flanders plus maybe Flecha. Old tough guy O'Grady to finish in the top 10.

considering that it will be rainy, I can't help but think that the old dogs like O'Grady and Hincapie will grit it through to surprise many at the end and be somewhere on the podium... kind of a 'last man standing' thing.
This is O'Grady's year too as he will finally be the team leader - it's why he went to lEoPaRd and was rather annoyed when spartacus turned up...

Please. Look at the last names who have won monuments. Zaugg, Gerrans, Nuyens, Van Summeren. I'm sure you're one of those who would have ridiculed anyone who predicted either of those victories. Based on that experience, it could be argued that it's more likely that an outsider will win than a favorite. How boring would this thread be if everyone went with the exact same prediction?

The fact is that the favorites don't always win. Just because someone predicts a different outcome than the statistically most likely doesn't mean that their prediction is useless. I don't think EBH will win either, but it's not impossible by any means...

I would have said it was foolish to predict any one of those, because it would have been - they are outsiders because they're unlikely to win. Predicting "an outsider" is fair enough, if you think the favourites will cancel each other out, but specifying your favourite outsider to win just seems a tad pointless. It's just a pet peeve of mine that people make "predictions" based on what they hope will happen.

I doubt that Paolini will do better in PR than he did in de Ronde (which suits him a lot better).

People will always be a bit biased towards their favourite riders though. It's inevitable.

Ballan
Sylvain Chavenel
Tom Boonen
Sep Vanmarcke
Gregory Rast

A possible early move by Ballan with Chavenel covering for Boonen. A wild and unlikely guess, but something I'd like to see happen.

I hope they both do well. I have never seen Boonen looking so thin and he is the obvious favourite. A war of attrition in the rain ?

No Boom?

Not enough people mentioning Boom. Not even in the poll! Does anyone remember he *waited* for the lead group after the Arenberg(sp???) sector last year. He had too many mechanical troubles to stay in the lead group. He's doing okay lately too.

I'm Outraged! Where is justice for Boom??? :D

If Boonen has minimal to no mechanical issues It will probably be another victory for Boonen.

Why is Chavanel even on the list when his job is to protect Boonen? I would love for Chavanel to be let off Boonen domestique duties for P-R. The guy is ready for the top podium spot.

I also remember Haussler waiting for the lead group to catch up after Arenberg in 2009, but he wasn't one of the favorites in 2010.
