If it rains Ian Stannard becomes one of my favourites for the race instantly

I think Stannard will go well anyway. Big, strong guy, in really good form. I hope he doesn't have to ride for Flecha.

Not enough people mentioning Boom. Not even in the poll! Does anyone remember he *waited* for the lead group after the Arenberg(sp???) sector last year. He had too many mechanical troubles to stay in the lead group. He's doing okay lately too.

I'm Outraged! Where is justice for Boom??? :D

If Boonen has minimal to no mechanical issues It will probably be another victory for Boonen.

Why is Chavanel even on the list when his job is to protect Boonen? I would love for Chavanel to be let off Boonen domestique duties for P-R. The guy is ready for the top podium spot.

Let the squawkers squawk, dw. You're right to expect a decent performance from lars. Chavanel is deserving of his place on the list. Arguably, his ride last year, along with boom and Spartacus were the stand out performances. Apologies to johann.

Boom is nowhere formwise compared to last year though. But if there's one race on the calendar that suits him it's Roubaix. Worth a punt for sure.

The more I think and consult with the cosmos about it, the more clear it has become that Terpstra is going to do very well this Sunday.

@Dirtyworks

As if I'm going to waste a perfectly fine poll option on Lars Boom. Come back when he's not sick anymore.

I think Thor is a classy rider ( not last year P-R though ) but his WC RR win in 2010 was great ( he rode the perfect race that day- with speed- when he was still fast/ winning ). This year at P-R he has a strong teammate ( Ballan ) and one of the strongest teams. I think he could conjure form out of nothing and go well here considering there is no Cancellara to shatter the pack ( Boonen can but maybe not to the same degree if he is so heavily marked ). BMC will be annoyed if Ballan cannot force a selection/ Hushovd not finishing in the top 10.

Yeah, he is. Became a fan of him during the Tour last year. Just can't help but to think we would have seen another world champ if it wasn't for Boonen's crashes ;(

Why isn't Leukemans in the list?

Anyway, with Canc out, who's going to drop Boonen? Unless he's ill or has a mechanical, nobody. Pozzato and Balan were impressive sunday, but they won't drop Boonen on the cobbles. Hushovd is probably going to hide behind someone's back the entire race and still come up short. Vanmarcke... too soon probably. I can't imagine anyone dropping Boonen, and i can't imagine anyone faster than Boonen not being dropped.

I've voted Vanmarcke on the poll but I'm backing Oss.

No reason except he has similar music taste to me and I'm hoping for a slug fest in the mud with accidents and mechanicals turning more than just the one table.

I'm no Boonen fan, so I'll be cheering for others. But most of all I'm hoping for rain. Serious rain, wind, mud, etc.

This year I'd say he will, in a year or two when Hayman and Flecha have lost their edge he'll lead the squad here along with Thomas though.

However I can see the combination of Stannard, EBH, Hayman and Flecha working over the teams of the other favourites resulting in a surprise winner.

Good pick Vanmarcke is strong/ probably along with Sagan the best young cobbled prospect.

Oss i could envisage tearing this race apart. I think he is a rider in Boonens' mould ( good sprint ) but less powerful on the hills.

Hayman has never been leader for Sky at P-R which is a pity.

True, but he has been Flecha's right hand man at Flanders and Roubaix for what, 5 - 6 years now?

Like Van Summeren before last year, Hayman is one of those guys who is capable of a podium if things go their way but choose to ride for someone else who has a genuine chance of winning.
