Apparently he had a hunger knock yesterday. I can't quite see how a professional rider can get a hunger knock on a mostly flat stage ridden at a very poor speed until the final climb but there you go...

He's young and he neglected to eat enough. It happens even to some riders with more experience.

On such a finish? Beaten by Basso? He doesn't look in good shape to me. Maybe he'll be stronger later in the race but right now he's nowhere near the level he was expected to be.

He crahsed with 60km to go and has to spend energy trying to get back, keep that in mind ;)

In Poland he was already pretty good, so i really can't believe he's in a bad shape right now. Yesterday was allright though. As Henao i will not fight for GC right now, with this disadvantage he can reach a 6/7th place, better trying for stage wins.

So according to you people- Henao - The designated leader of the team, forgot to eat, hit the wall- No team mates seen around to aid him -but Uran was allowed to kept going????

HE BLEW UP. SIMPLE-PLAIN-FACT.

Not what Porte "believed it took place" from the other side of the Atlantic, for fvcks sake!!

I am questioning what the Tasmanian is saying- I'm questioning the SKY PR BS

obviosuly he had a hunger flat. he dropped in the flat part. he was clealry without anything left. uran is also vice captain so of coruse they won't let him wait besides it's no use waiting for a rider who has a hunger flar

Well hunger flat or not he was rather unspectacular today as well.

you don't recuperate from a hunger flat within 1 day. he obviously went very deep and that takes in a gt some days to recuperate from.

You sincerely believe he's in top shape?

we will see. but he did already have a hard season. maybe he's tired like almost all of sky. but not counting that I'm sure he's in topshape or close to it.

Tell that to Chris Froome, in a much harder stage than any in La Vuelta.

That was not a hungerflat. If it had been he would have lost atleast 4 min. He just ran abit empty up d'huez.

I agree. a hunger flat would have meant that he would be riding much slower after going for that extra bite of whatever he was eating.

oc, this is not clinic, and i will not continue with that line of thought here.

What happened with this supposed - to - be star? Was he ill? He told he feels in very good form. I fear he won't be another star on the Sky if this is what can he show in very good form. I thought top five is definitely in his grasp, mibby even win. There're plenty of potencial leaders on Sky.

He's overtrained. All Sky riders are pretty bad now.

My theory is that Kerrison was too radical in the training regime this year. I suspect he made lots of changes, and that has had the effect we have seen signs of for team sky pretty much since since Dauphine. Most seem more tired, while a few have shined from time to time. I suspect this is due to the individual adaptations in their training.

But this is complex, since they probably have different programs individually adapted, but with one common theme.

We will probably see improvements next year, since they will have learned from their mistakes.

Anyway all that extra training this year might just pay off next year. Who knows.

Kerrison said himself that they decided to gamble a bit this year by pretty much making everyone on the team follow the training regime that made Wiggins a Tour winner. The January training camp was said to be particularly hard. Obviously it's proven too much for most of the riders so presumably they'll adapt this approach next year.

He'll still be third in line behind Froome and Porte next year. Uran is leaving and Wiggins' stage race GC days are over. He'll likely get to lead at races like Catalunya, Pais Vasco, Ardennes/Lombardia. He'll be at the Tour to help Froome. I'd imagine Porte will want to ride for Froome at the Tour after the Giro so the Vuelta leadership will probably be Henao's again next year too.

At least he has a hope, even if he went tits over erse in the Vuelta.
