If he wins the double, all of the doubters up to that point will be no where to be found. This is how it goes online. We don’t have to do the work. We just think we know what it takes
This is both very accurate and wildly incorrect. For starters, I'm a doubter and if he pulls it off, I'll be mildly vocal in the clinic 🤔😆

Okay. How is that a conspiracy?

I too believe that he really wants to ride the Giro, even if I don't think that's because of a conspiracy. I also don't see any contradiction between that and my point that his decision indicates that he doesn't believe that he is likely to beat Vingegaard in the Tour.
It's a conspiracy because it is so simple, only him and one other person probably hatched the plan that he would just really love to ride the Giro win-lose-or draw.

I think he's the underdog at the Tour, but not a gigantic one like Roglic. He still has a decent shot, say 30-40%. And I also think we think differently about how the Giro should affect his Tour. It's 2024, I don't really think the Giro-Tour double is as impossibe as it used to be, we just have a complete lack of top GC riders attempting it.

The conspiracy thing is just a joke

I too think that the double is possible now (I also think Froome would have pulled it off if he had been lucky), and I think there's a good chance for someone to pull it off within the next five years. But I think it's harder than Tour-Vuelta, and both Vingegaard and Pogi are so good right now that if one of them has the Giro in his legs it will be very hard to beat the other in the Tour. Harder still if you are the (slightly) weaker of the two.

I don't think doing both the Giro in May and the Tour in July is the optimal path towards the Worlds in September. Rather the opposite: it's the worst prep he can have. So it's not a consideration that should favour Giro participation.
But it is if he can replicate Stephen Roache in 87 and make cycling legendary again.

I recall Vingo fans claiming that the Tour and stomach problems as reasons for Vingo's demise in the Vuelta TT.

The line between excuses and facts is blurred by one's own bias. Yet another friendly reminder that no one holds the higher ground.

Thanks for pointing this out! At some point, vingo has to show some flashes of july in other parts of the year. That unassailable form that even Pogi says he does not have on his best day.

Profile of Olympic RR is less suitable for Slovenian duo, compared to Worlds RR, that should suit them perfect.
