What an extremely bad take on the interview. He calls Pogacar a bully and you are offended so misquote him

When you see Tadej severely kick everyone's a*s; it feels like you've been bullied. They may carry some PTSD from exposure to him and their projection to the Dauphine and beyond. It's too early for everyone to be so off the wall certain about any of these guys.....except Ayuso for the Tour.

There wasn't much improvement. The first ITT of the last Tour was really good.

It’s one ITT though at the very start of a long season. Gotta wait for more samples before saying if there’s improvements or not. We’ll see how Pog performs in the time trials at the Dauphine and Tour where he’s at right around peak shape.

Yates is (and has always been) capable of amazing climbing performances.
Overall Jorgenson may be on a higher overall level than Yates, but Yates is certainly capable of producing climbing performances that destroy the whole peloton (including Jorgenson and Almeida, whom as we know, doesn't like to go in the red) once or twice in the Tour.

That's why i think is good news the perfomance Yates did, but also what WVA did.

Yates will be the fourth guy from Visma in the Tour, and the plan will probably be to destroy the peloton very soon in the mountain stages.

New things can be done, like in the stage of Superbagneres where we have the combo tourmalet-aspin-peyresourde-superbagneres, where Visma train can destroy the peloton very soon on Tourmalet, and just let letf in the top a GC group (besides Vingegaard, yates, kuss, Jorgenson), of 15/20 riders at best, where probably Emirates will only have pogacar, almeida and maybe sivakov.

My point is, if Yates is capable of insane performances, like the one on Finestre, he will possibly/likely drop Kuss and Jorgenson as well.
So it's not very wise to keep him as a fourth guy.
You can perfectly well use him as a last guy sometimes.


The smartest thing Visma could do is Sky-like change of the main helpers.

This is probably higher than 7 w/kg. In the same ride (where he did more than 4000 meters of elevation in total) he also took the kom on pico veleta (altough this is difficult to judge because the other times in the top 10 are not from top riders in top races)

Great performance but he did a similar VAM in TdS last year (for ~ 20 minutes). If he did this after a long, exhausting ride then it's more impressive.

His performance (in TdS) last year was even easier (to reach higher numbers) than a MTT.

well in this ride this was his first effort, but after that he did another big effort on pico veleta, the ride was very hard overall

So still a fresh effort, very likely a simulation of racing conditions (going a bloc) followed by a long training ride.

not on pico veleta. Anyway we'll see but I have the impression that also almeida has made a step and he might be the 3rd strongest climber in the tour

I'll be watching on the Col d'Aspin for that stage so would love if things get shredded on the Tourmalet and we get to see a reduced GC group come through.
