I was puzzled as well as he had somehow lost about 30 positions in 10 seconds off camera.

The text that auto-translates as "hit by a car" actually reads something along the lines of "I was ridden into the side". Not sure what that means exactly, but there would be no reason for there to be a car anywhere near Mathieu at that point in the race.

But he was right beside Pog and then all of the sudden way back. Can't be intentional at such as crucial moment. He had to push quite hard to get up to Pog's group. You said it yourself: MvdP is a mad man.

Google Translate does the sentence correctly if that's all you include, but if you include the whole paragraph which has earlier text about a crash it invents the bit about a car.
