Bayern winning=awesome
Atletico winning=awesome
West Ham losing=bummer (hate ManUre)

Not bad 2/3. Hoping Klopp did some magic preparing the Reds for tomorrow. Dortmund isn't done by any means, it's still a wide open tie, despite Liverpool holding an advantage.

Another disappointment. Not that I had high expectations against Bayern, but that goal by Jiménez gave every Benfiquista some hope. Still, could have been worse. We could have been trashed in both legs. Better to lose in the UCL quarters against a monolith such as BM than against Chelsea or Sevilla in the EL finals which we deserved to win.

As much as I loathe the Scousers, that was a game for the ages. The most fun game in many years for any neutral watcher.

I was watching this game together with two Liverpool supporters. It was immense. I told them, remember Istanbul. I just wanted Liverpool to come back so the game would be exciting. One of the matches of the year so far.

Football commentators seem to be as clueless about their sport as cycling commentators like Ligget, Kirby etc are about theirs (ok maybe not quite as bad as Kirby)

I watched the highlights on ITV to both Champions League and Europe League on football and multiple times commentators didn't seem to understand the away goal rule, declaring games over where the opposition still only needed a goal to take to extra time.

Good draw for the Champions League. For once there will be match-ups we haven't really seen much if at all in recent years. Very refreshing, considering how many repetitive ones there have been lately.

The downside is that Real again got the easiest draw together with home advantage in the second leg. Like in every other knock-out round of this year's competition.

@Liverpool game again:

Thing is, the defense of Liverpool was pretty garbage all night, and Milner's corners were horrendous. Still it was a defender who scored on the end of a terrible Milner corner because the players on the near post defending for Dortmund were equally as atrocious. I guess Lovren and Sakho made up for their errors by scoring... lmao.

I hope Atelti in the whole thing now. Rumors going rampant in Italy about Moratti taking over Inter again and wanting to bring Simeone over. PLEASE LET IT BE TRUE.

If athletico win the whole thing, they will likely have beaten all of the last 3 champions league winners. Reminds me of when jmdp won the US open by beating Nadal and Federer on consecutive nights, or of a moment from my childhood, when Chris Jericho beat the rock and stone cold in the same night

That seems to be my thought too, but refs shouldn't do that to "balance" things out. Instead Huth should have been given that penalty when those arms dragged him down in the box. Shocking refereeing.

Barca losing today again, wtf are they doing? The league is now wide open in Spain. The excitement is on!

Stan Collymore having a go at Lescott and the other Villa players for their lack of professionalism and not performing to their best.

Oh my.

Talk about a player who coasted through much of his career after his move to Liverpool. He was a nothing player himself at Villa who failed to perform to his ability.

It was a silly stupid thing for Lescott to say at the weekend but at least come from a position of strength if you're going to call him out on it.

I agree about the Villa players. Said so long ago about the likes of Agbonlahor when he challenged Garde's training methods when he wanted to put the emphasis on more stamina work. Then you see the stories this week about his fitness levels. That's a disgrace for a professional.

I know Collymore's career right from Southend. I was a fan of him as a player and he was hugely talented but he did not fulfill his potential. He was terrible at Villa. How many caps did he get for England? He should have got 30-40 caps. He calls out the Villa players for under performing and he coasted for most of his career after getting his big move to Liverpool.

When Paul McGrath criticises the Villa players and Lescott, he has earned the right. No issue with that.

The Europa League is there for the taking for Liverpool. The Scousers are destined. As good as the other three are, this team is on a roll. I think Klopp is getting them to believe. Heck, seeing how inconsistent the Premiership has been this season, they can move into the top by the end of the season and challenge for the Champions League positions next year.

Vardy. What will become of him this season? How severe will his punishment be and what sort of implications will that have? Can the Foxes hang on if he is out for more than a game or two? They have a decent gap, but still games to play.

Gabby Agbonlahor is too.

most of all 'cos harry kane has scored more goals than villa

I agree. The Villa players deserve the flak coming their way. That's not what I'm getting at.

I'm a Villa fan and Stan is absolutely spot on, the majority of players have been a disgrace this season. Laughing and joking on holiday with their sheesh pipes, on hover boards late at night waiting to get home after another away defeat. Lescott, Guzan, Bacuna and co laughing and playing games on the bench during another shocking performance, that time against the mighty Wycombe!

That's not even taking into account the tweet Lescott sent with the sports car.

The club needs a proper clear out.

What I meant by that was top 5, not the TOP top. I think that's a liiiiitle unrealistic. My mistake!

Shocking refereeing.

After having watched MNF, Carra has swayed me to say that the refereeing wasn't that bad. There were a few poor decisions, but in general he was excellent and brave. Vardy was right to be sent off and that was definitely a penalty when Carroll body checked Schlupp.

ah, the human element in reffing - that's the game - some decisions which get made at a split second after only one view at full speed and at a different angle to the tv cameras, aren't right. It happens.
BUT, the 'balancing out' bit is just plain wrong. Make up for it by being correct with all the remaining calls. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Leicester did just fine without vardy when he was injured earlier in the year, so all this carry-on about them falling over without him is a little unjustified - plenty of scorers for them still in action.

Pool winning europa is entirely plausible, as is their possibly overhauling the spammers and utd into 5th
