Yep that's Sagan riding into Cav who's trying to stay upright after being pushed. And I don't remember Sagan destroying Haussler's career.
These two pictures represent what really happened the best.
In the first picture, you can clearly see Cav bumping into Sagan.
Sagans natural reaction to keep his balance is to stick out the elbow.
In the second picture you can see Cav already going down and HITTING Sagans elbow with his shoulder from behind!
I think that you have to be strongly biased against Sagan to not see this.
And keep in mind that this has happened in a second! In 60 kph.

Yes. People are making this way more complicated than it needs be. The only question is who had right of way: Cav - who was already on Demare's wheel, or Sagan who moved right to try and take Demare's wheel?
IMO Cav had every right to follow Demare through that gap. Sagan did not have the right to move across.

Yes, but I think that it's more about actually hurting Sagan with the penalization and not about giving an advantage to another rider (ok, they already designed an anti Sagan route to make it close, but I don't think that that's the reason why the penalize him).swissfr said:

Actually it isn't as the most important part (CaV touching Sagan with his left shoulder) isn't visible due to the tree. I do however think that the relegation is warranted as he shouldn't have been closing the door when Cab was already alongside. The elbow was a consequence of the collision not the cause.

The problem is that Sagan has a history of elbows in the classics & with Greipel in this TDF. Too many elbows make a penalty
