The greatest thing about the CN forum is that confirmation bias plays no part whatsoever in forming people's opinions.

They probably just wanted to penalize Sagan in a way that actually hurts him.
Vasilis said:On another note, what caused the first crash? I only saw the helicopter camera veering towards it when the crash was already taking place.
Gorecki said:Lance Armstrong said:No, it's Cav's shoulder hitting Sagan's elbow. If you look at front wheels and their shadows, both bikes are now side by side and there's no space for Mark. Sagan's elbow in a natural position.Vroome.exe said:cineteq said:
Yep that's Sagan riding into Cav who's trying to stay upright after being pushed. And I don't remember Sagan destroying Haussler's career.

These two pictures represent what really happened the best.
In the first picture, you can clearly see Cav bumping into Sagan.
Sagans natural reaction to keep his balance is to stick out the elbow.
In the second picture you can see Cav already going down and HITTING Sagans elbow with his shoulder from behind!
I think that you have to be strongly biased against Sagan to not see this.
And keep in mind that this has happened in a second! In 60 kph.
Vasilis said:I think Cavendish was following Démare's wheel, which he was already doing before Démare went past Sagan. Then Sagan moves right, so Cavendish has to stop pedaling, but Sagan went further right and pushed Cavendish off his bike.
So the only sprinter to have had a completely clean day was Nacer.Eagle said:Greipel hit Bouhanni aswelldeValtos said:Lets just award Greipel the win tbh. I think everyone can get on board with that?
You can't judge that from those pictures, because it's 2D. The helicopter view is more informative.Gorecki said:Lance Armstrong said:No, it's Cav's shoulder hitting Sagan's elbow. Yes, but I think that it's more about actually hurting Sagan with the penalization and not about giving an advantage to another rider (ok, they already designed an anti Sagan route to make it close, but I don't think that that's the reason why the penalize him).swissfr said:Mayomaniac said:Do the French actually care about the boring Zabel jersey? Arnaud Démare is now the big favorite for the green jersey.

Congrats on the moral victory around everyone else's dangerous sprinting. You are a beacon of safety, calmness and responsibility among a sea of immaturity and testosterone fuelled decisions, Nacer. Thank you.

Yes, but would you also argue that it's as easy to see who won in a close sprint from the front as from above?Rachela said:That is also a 2D perspectiveVasilis said:You can't judge that from those pictures, because it's 2D. The helicopter view is more informative.)

It looked to me like Sagan's elbow was already coming out before they went behind those trees (helicopter shot from the back).
