Something is wrong with Egan. That was just not normal. There were too many riders in front of him. Instead of thinking about him and the Vuelta they need to evaluate what was wrong with him today and in this Tour. Simply put, that is not him.

We are hoping to have at least a battle between Roglic and Pogacar. Please stop kissing and hugging and start the fight. Today was just another sprint like many predicted. Not good. I was expecting a lot more from this stage. At least we can have Quintana going in the breakaway like he always does. Gather some strength after the rest day.

Basso was never to Armstrong the threat Pogacar is to Roglic.

The thing about Pogačar. He was very inconsistent in the Vuelta and in Dauphine also. I was waiting for his bad day but it hasn't come yet. If it doesn't come at all he will be a worthy opponent for Rogla and iy won't be easy for the Jumbo rider I think. On the other hand today was maybe a bad day for Roglič

His form was quite clearly growing in the Dauphine.

Pogacar is better at this point than Roglic and he recovers better. TJV seems to be lacking in distancing Pogacar and Dumo is not a in good position to attack. Pogacar has good chances.

Consistency often comes with age.
And albeit being slightly inconsistent in the Vuelta last year he never had a truly bad day, the kind of bad day that takes you out of the GC fight. At 21 years old, that's clear indication of great recovery to me.

I'm prepared to believe he's 40 seconds worse than Rog/Pog on Puy Mary but no that he's 2 minutes worse than Carlos Verona on Colombier without an explanation.

The only real surprising thing today was Bernal bonking. Having a CX world champion and grand tour winner leading the train on the final climb pretty much neutralized the rest of the field.

Dumoulin is rounding nicely into shape. Is he riding the Vuelta?

Losing a sprint is not a sign of weakness for a GT contender, Roglic also won sprints against Pogacar BTW.
Peyresourde performance by Pogacar was outstanding but since then he hasn't repeated it and Roglic wasn't it troubles even once (looking like the strongest guy on Pas de Peyrol).
