Something is wrong with Egan. That was just not normal.

or maybe it is.

small lighter climbers traditionally can get worn down if the riding is hard on the non-mountain stages.

that often translates to "illness". or a bad day.

how many TDFs did Herrera win?

how many podiums?

the problem with recent history is that we are overly used to these types of riders being at the front end of GC because the route design has so favored them. the reality is that it is actually traditionally normal for a physique like big Tom to drop some of the small climbers as a 3 week GT progresses.

now if there had been even one flat ITT, we would not even be considering the likes of quintana, bernal, martin, bardet, yates, landa and lopez as podium contenders. they would likely be fighting for 5-10 and going for the climbers jersey.

Watched the footage on the Jungels-Higuita crash, Jungels needs to be tossed. Reckless riding.
I mean, you can change lanes without looking or signaling too but no one calls that a "racing incident", they call that "reckless driving".

Is it just me or Roglic exhibited a bit of weakness (compared to Pogacar only, of course)?
He had enough after the finish line, while Pog was flying.
It definitely did not look as gifted

We finally saw the Roglic Pain Face, so yes a bit of weakness. He Really wanted to win the stage, he said so in the post race interview.

Uran still being Uran though, guy's still not even a minute behind Pog lmao.

I don't even want to imagine this Jumbo team IF Krujswijk didn't get injured, with that said I am still very much anticipating thursday's stage. If something big is going to happen, it's got to be there, right? Especially based on how Roglic's final week of last year's Giro and Vuelta looked.

Agreed, it was utterly ridiculous. Gross negligence. He's lucky it wasn't a race vehicle tearing up the inside instead of Higuita.

Tuesday will be fascinating.

8 second bonus on top of large climb before final climb. JV will want to let a break go to deny Pog the seconds, Pog's team not strong enough to chase break.

Great stage today, now the big question is will we get some positive covid-tests tomorrow ? Lots of sneezing going on, and Bernal's performance really weak, would not be much surprised if there are a few positives tomorrow :-(

I put him on my fantasy team last night cause he was a good price. Then an hour later said cop on to yourself this is LMRP he's gonna screw up somehow

I feel pretty stupid now

I picked Bernal for today a few days ago. Last night I considered switching him out for LRP, but persuaded myself to stay the course.

I was up to 4th overall after Hirschi's win. I'll plummet now.

Imagine a top contender or his team being sent home because of this. Hopefully such a travesty won't happen.

Hindsight is 20-20 but he looked like a has-been in the Dauphine
Could also easily be that being told he wouldn't be considered as a leader for the Tour and so he had to pick leading elsewhere or being a dom at the Tour has lit a bit of a fire in him as he's having to prove himself worthy of leading again, whereas if he'd gone along and just been a dom he might have been in the same position as some of the other Ineos helpers.

Pogacar has three stages to put one minute into Roglic to have a chance to win this.
I expecto Roglic to beat him in the time trial but not by much. Between 30s and 1 minute. If Pog has yellow into the final time trial even with some seconds I think he can surprise us.

8 seconds is not worth the effort of pushing for it. Especially since it'll really just be 3 seconds as Roglic will take 2nd place.

Pogacar is in a nice position right now. He can sit on Rogla's wheel, pick off bonus sprints as they become available, and plan to hit the TT full gas. If it works, he'll win the Tour. If it doesn't, no big pressure on him.

Roglic, on the other hand, has to work out a way to put time into Pogacar to have any relative certainty going into the TT. And all evidence so far is that SkyBotting him to death isn't quite going to get them there.
